Take a walking tour through Hanoi, visiting the Old Quarter and passing the old East Gate to Thanh Ha Market. This busy, eclectic market is alive with the sights and sounds of Hanoi and is the essence of Vietnamese culture. At the end of the tour stop at one of the Old Quarter's busiest (yet smallest) coffee shops for a well-earned sit down and coffee before transferring back to your hotel.
Return to the pier in Halong Bay and head back to Hanoi with a stop for lunch and visit to Thanh Chuong Palace, the home and studio of one of the most celebrated painters in Vietnam. The rooms are a living space as opposed to museum, regardless of whether history and art are your prime interests, a visit here will not fail to impress.
Cruise along the Thu Bon River by boat, passing coconut palm plantations as the sun steadily rises. Take a short ride in a traditional basket boat en route to experience a truly local mode of transport. Take a walking tour of the ancient town centre of Hoi An and visit the 400 year old Japanese Covered Bridge and colourful markets.
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your onwards flight or connecting flight for the Cambodia workshop.
