Hoi AnHoi An is a destination with two faces - the charming, old-world trading port of narrow streets and traditional houses, and the beach with its new resorts and long stretch of clean white sand. In keeping with Hoi An's heritage as a trading port, the town's tiny shophouses now host a range of craft shops and artisans including some of Asia's best bespoke tailors. Despite the passing of 200 years and the ravages of weather and war, the centre of Hoi An remains much the same as it was in its heyday. Day 1 - Arrive Hoi An
Overnight in Hoi An. Day 2 - Hoi An (B)Hoi An was a major Asian trading port in the 17th and 18th centuries and its architecture and relaxed lifestyle has changed little over the years. Take a walking tour of the ancient town centre to visit former merchants' houses, the 400 year-old Japanese Covered Bridge, a Chinese communal hall, and the colorful market. In the afternoon take a 3-hour cruise on the Thu Bon river with stops at Thanh Ha pottery village, Kim Bong carpenters' village, and a traditional shipbuilding yard. Overnight in Hoi An. Day 3 - Hoi An Departure (B)
My favorite place right now is Hoi An in Central Vietnam. I love this city because of its unique blend of of culture, history, beautiful landscapes, and peaceful way of life as well as the tiny little streets and charming cafes. Hoi An is so colorful and is such an enchanting place to visit. There is more to Hoi An than just a half-day city tour. You can experience Hoi An by relaxing in one of the city's numerous cafes, the tailor shops, the nearby beaches and the countryside cycling tour. In a nutshell, just relax and enjoy the peace, quiet and the slow paced way of life. I was sitting next to the window in a café on one beautiful Hoi An afternoon, watching people pass by. I decided to take my camera, aim it at one particular spot and snap away. Despite the same background, all pictures reflected Vietnam in some way. They were all interesting and varied. Pictures included a school girl in her Ao Dai (a Vietnamese dress) riding her bicycle, an old street vendor, kids playing, and a very old lady with her conical hat. Bali is my next dream destination. I live in the metropolitan confines of Ho Chi Minh City and would very much like to escape to the perfect island retreat in beautiful nature. I have heard many great stories about Bali and would love to experience it for myself soon!
