An overnight train journey takes you up to the northern city of Chiang Mai. Once the capital of the Lanna Kingdom, Chiang Mai has a rich culture as is evidenced by the city's many temples, unique architecture and artisan colonies. Discover the city's highlights on a tour which culminates at the mountain top temple of Doi Suthep to enjoy panoramic views in the tranquil surroundings.

Day 1 - Arrive Bangkok

Welcome to Bangkok! Your guide will great you and transfer you to your hotel where the afternoon is at your leisure to enjoy the delights of the capital!

Day 2 - Bangkok (B)

Wake up early for a unique experience witnessing the early morning monk chants at Wat Pho. After the private experience, visit the temple grounds and famous 45 meter Reclining Buddha statue. Continue to the nearby Grand Palace, a complex of majestic temples, buildings, throne halls and the revered Emerald Buddha.

Day 3 - Bangkok - Overnight train to Chiang Mai (B)

Continue exploring Bangkok at your own pace before transferring this afternoon to the Bangkok Railway station. The comfortable air-conditioned sleeper train is a fun way to travel to the northern city of Chiang Mai.

Day 4 - Chiang Mai

The train arrives in Chiang Mai this morning and after checking in to your hotel, set off on an afternoon of sightseeing. Chiang Mai is a contrast of old-world charm and modern society, but the history and rich Lanna culture pervade. Tour the city walls and moats, visit ancient temples and drive to the top of Doi Suthep mountain to the most sacred temple in the region. After enjoying the panoramic views, return to the city center.

This morning is free at your leisure until transferring to the train station or airport for your onward travel.
