OVERVIEW Our Tom Yum Goong Chiang Rai day trip is specially designed to immerse you in the exotic, undiscovered sites of northern Thailand while introducing you to the Kingdom's best-loved culinary dishes. Around the Thai-Lao border you'll walk through quaint villages, visit waterfalls and hotsprings and learn about traditional agriculture techniques. Taste buds are tantalized with a sunrise breakfast at the summit of Phu Chi Fa mountain and a scrumptious lunch of tom yum goong soup.
PROGRAM DETAIL Early morning leave your hotel by minibus to visit Phu Chi Fa, the best spot to see the sunrise in Chiang Rai. The highest point of this mountain is a vast grassy plateau with its cliff facing and extending into Laos.
You will walk for 10 minutes to go to the peak. Breakfast will be served on the summit. Then continue to visit the small Thai-Lao border village where lots of hand-made products such as cotton and silk are sold at the local market. Visit also the Pha Mon Highland Agricultural Royal Project where you can enjoy walking in a flower garden and orchid nurseries.
Lunch at a local freshwater prawn farm in Thoeng district where you can sample Thailand's most well-known soup, Tom Yum Goong, and other prawn specialties of your choice. On your way back, visit Phu Sang Waterfall, one of the unseen destinations in Thailand's north and particularly famous for its warm waters which originate from the many natural hot springs in the area.
