OVERVIEW An action pack Thailand day trip perfect for every visitor to the historical town of Kanchanaburi. Depart your Bangkok hotel in the morning for the scenic drive to the River Kwai. Allow us to lead you through some lesser explored streets of town and introduce you to the traditional architecture and shop houses built during the reign of King Rama V. After a gentle introduction to the area and a visit to the cemetery the fun begins with an assorted array of activities. Jump on a bike to visit an elephant camp, drift down stream on a bamboo raft and learn about the art of elephant training from a local mahout.
PROGRAM DETAIL Your guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel and transfer you to Kanchanaburi. Once you have arrived, first stop is the war cemetery before a stroll through the historical lane in Pak Preak community, laden with charming shop houses built during the reign of King Rama V and continue to the famous Bridge of River Kwai. After a quick briefing, begin biking towards the elephant camp for around 20 minutes which is situated on the banks of the River Kwai. Embark on a 45 minute elephant ride amid magnificent mountain views and other spectacular scenery. Disembark from your elephant and continue with the biking excursion through local villages, passing temples and local schools en-route. After approximately one hour you will trade in your bikes for some bamboo rafts or kayaks and set about sailing down the River Kwai before being reunited with the elephants. Take the time to bath these gentle giants in the river and learn more about the art of elephant training from a local mahout before returning to Bangkok late in the afternoon.
