OVERVIEW

Our Doi Inthanton Waterfall Walk Chiang May day trip was designed to add a touch of adventure to a north Thailand tour. Setting off from Chiang Mai, visit a Karen hilltribe village and a local market as you make your way to Thailand's highest point, Doi Inthanon. Embark on a light two hour trek, enjoying the fresh mountain air while passing through lush jungle, cascading rivers and waterfalls. Easy and yet still rewarding, this day trip is perfectly suited for families.

PROGRAM DETAIL

Doi Inthanon National Park is especially known for its beautiful wild flowers, great birdwatching opportunities and its majestic waterfalls.

This relaxing soft adventure Chiang Mai day trip starts with a short transfer by van to kad San Patong. Here you will have the chance to experience the colors, sounds and smells of this typically Asian fresh food market, while your guide buys some extra ingredients for lunch. The various stalls, produce and their vendors are a wonderful photo opportunity.

Then continue to Doi Inthanon national park. Upon entering the park, you will immediately notice the change: houses and roads make place for trees and streams, while mountains take over from the vast fields in the Mae Ping valley.

Finally, you will reach the highest point of Thailand: Doi Inthanon, at 2,565 meters above sea level. Also visit its Twin Chedis, that were dedicated to King Bhumibol and Queen Sirikit.

After your visit to the roof of Thailand, a short transfer will bring you to a Karen hilltribe village. Most of the villagers work at the coffee plantation project, the quality of which you will be able to test by yourself. Sample a cup of the locally grown arabica or robusta coffee.

The first part of the trek starts with an easy walk from the village, through the jungle and over the fields. After about an hour, you will reach the first waterfall. Cross the stream and climb up to the next waterfall, where lunch will be taken. Here you will also have enough time to swim, sunbath and relax.

After your two hours break, start trekking again along the stream. Walking through the forest and passing yet another beautiful waterfall, you will reach the finish of today's trek, where our friendly driver is waiting for you.

On the way back to Chiang Mai, you will make a last stop at Watchirathan waterfall, one of the most spectacular in North Thailand. Then continue back to your hotel.
