Yangon - Kyaiktiyo - Bago - Yangon

Take the pilgrimage to one of the holiest and most awe-inspiring sites in Asia on this overnight voyage to Myanmar’s Golden Rock. Leaving the avenues of Yangon behind, you’ll get the chance to explore dramatic natural scenery and intriguing local cultures as you hike to the summit of the Golden Rock. A massive boulder covered in delicate gold leaf and said to hold a hair of the Buddha, it’s one of the most important venerated sites in Myanmar, and certainly one of the most spectacular.

The journey to the Golden Rock begins as you head out from Yangon, traveling by road to Kyaikhtiyo, the base camp for your climb. You’ll unwind in the pristine landscape of the Burmese countryside as you take the hike to the glittering pinnacle. After spending a night in the shadow of the Golden Rock, you’ll head back toward Yangon, taking in the highlights of the area on the way. You’ll stroll among the ruins of Bago, the ancient capital of a mysterious empire and home to a towering Mon pagoda. Finally, you’ll stop at the Allied War Cemetery, final resting place for over 27,000 allied soldiers, before your journey ends back in Yangon.

Day 1 - Yangon - Kyaikhtiyo - Golden Rock (B)

The Golden Rock - 2 Days / 1 Night - itinerary We will depart Yangon in the morning and travel by road to Kyaikhtiyo, where you will transfer to a local open truck. Once on your uphill trek, you'll have the chance to encounter engaging locals and to admire the natural beauty of the surroundings before reaching the astounding Golden Rock, one of the most venerated sites in all of Asia.

Day 2 - Kyaikhtiyo - Bago - Yangon (B)

The Golden Rock - 2 Days / 1 Night - itinerary After breakfast, we'll travel by open truck back to the base camp. Heading back to Yangon, you'll get the chance to see the 16th century capital of Bago, where you'll encounter a 55 meter reclining Buddha and a Mon style pagoda. You'll arrive back in Yangon in the evening after stopping at the Allied War Cemetery.
