Begin your tour of Myanmar in the quiet and compared to its neighboring countries, relatively undeveloped city of Yangon, formerly known as Rangoon. Explore the spectacular landmark of Shwedagon Pagoda and reclining Buddha of Kyaukhtatgyi Pagoda. We also uncover the art, antiques and enthralling architecture Yangon is home to. From Yangon we head up to Bagan to continue our tour of Myanmar. Bagan is a plain strewn with fascinating temples and pagodas. Begin at an elevated temple, enjoying its breathtaking views over Bagan before exploring others including the majestic Ananda. Meander through Nyaung Oo Market where villagers gather to sell their produce and wares before sitting down to a cup of sweet Burmese tea. From Bagan it's a short flight to Heho, set within the heart of the Shan State. We make our way to Nyaung Shwe at the northern end of Inle Lake and visit the local monasteries, nunneries and Museum of Shan Chiefs. We spend the next few nights on Inle Lake, exploring all it has to offer, ranging from a scenic winery to markets and the Pa-Oh Village of Indein where there is a chance to meet locals and observe their traditional lifestyles. We also wander through the beautiful Alaung Sitthou area. From Inle Lake we fly back to Yangon and embark on a tour called 'On The Blessings Trail' that uncovers the various religions practiced in downtown Yangon. While walking through this lively section of town we'll also stumble upon local markets selling everything from fresh produce to temple offerings to traditional medicine. Day 1 - Arrive Yangon
Explore the highlights of the relatively quiet and relaxed capital city of Yangon. Visit the 70m long reclining Buddha and Shwedagon Pagoda that soars 90m into the air and is covered with 60 tonnes of gold leaf. Learn about local pilgrimage practices and wonder the bustling market lined streets. Overnight in Yangon. Day 2 - Yangon - Art, Antiques, Architecture (B)

Visit the corlorful Nyaung Oo Market where villages gather to sell their produce. Sit in a local tea shop and enjoy a cup of sweet Burmese tea or coffee while watching the activity on the street. Head out of Bagan to visit a village famous for its palm products. Overnight in Bagan. Day 5 - Bagan - A Different Perspective (B)
Board a private river boat and set off upriver toward Kyauk Gu U Min along the Irrawaddy River. See fishermen at work, local ferries carrying passengers and views of temples across Bagan as you observe life on the river. In the evening we take a horsecart ride through the temples and watch the sunset over the plain. OPTION: Start your morning with a hot-air balloon flight over the plains of Bagan. Enjoy the fabulous views as the sun rises over the stupas and Irrawaddy River. This is truly an unforgettable and unique experience! Visit the morning market that attracts people from all over the lake's shores, gathering to buy and sell their wares. Proceed to the village of Inpawkhone to observe traditional silk weaving techniques of Inthar people and learn more about their history and culture. Wander through the beautiful Alaung Sitthou area in the afternoon. Overnight at Inle Lake. Day 8 - Inle Lake - Culinary Exploration (B,L)
Start a culinary exploration of Inle Lake. Visit Khaung Dine Village, known for its production of of Tofu, fried soya crackers and soya bean pastes. Continue to a stilted house on the lake where you have the opportunity to cook with a local Inthar family before dining on the floor of their house. Overnight at Inle Lake. Day 9 - Inle Lake - Heho - Yangon - Spiritual (B)
Fly back to Yangon and enjoy lunch at a restaurant of your choice. Take a walking tour through the downtown streets to see the different forms of religion practiced in the country. While walking through this lively section of town we'll also stumble upon local markets selling everything from fresh produce to temple offerings to traditional medicine. Overnight in Yangon. Day 10 - Yangon Depart (B)Today is free at your leisure until transferring to the airport for your international flight. Transfer to airport.

Myanmar for the Connoisseur - 10 Days / 9 Nights

We start the day at New Treasure Gallery, an art gallery established by Min Wai Aung, a famous Burmese artist. Then visit two antiques shops filled with hidden gems and Dhamazedi Road where a row of small shop houses are packed full of antiques. We return downtown and venture on a tour of the city's most historic buildings and visit the River Gallery (known for its contemporary art) and Lokanat Gallery (featuring traditional works and rotating exhibits).
Take a short flight to Bagan and upon arrival begin sightseeing with a visit to an elevated temple. Head to Myinkaba Village and Gubyaukgyi Temple, noted for its beautiful mural paintings. Visit Ananda, one of the town's most holy sites and explore its fascinating interior. The day ends at Sissa Nar Gyi Temple in Southern Bagan.

Fly to Heho then take a one hour drive to Nyaung Shwe, a small town located at the northern end of Inle Lake. Traveling by local trishaw, visit local monasteries and the Museum of Shan Chiefs that holds interesting relics from the sao pha (Shan rulers) of past. At midday visit Viewpoint for lunch at what is widely considered one of the best Shan restaurants in Myanmar. Afterwards, continue to Red Mountain Wine Estate, a joint venture with the Pa Oh people and a French winemaker.
