Set off on a pleasant and undemanding guided bike ride through Mandalay's outskirts. Pass small villages, meet locals and experience the charm of rural Mandalay. Depart Mandalay for a 3-hour ride to Monywa; a typical Burmese town on the banks of the Chindwin River. Visit Thanboddhay Pagoda, a huge Buddhist temple covered with more than 500,000 Buddha images. Also stop at Boditahtaung Pagoda which houses the largest reclining Buddha image in Myanmar and nearby is the world's largest standing Buddha. Conclude the day with a calm moment by the banks of the river while absorbing the scenic sunset. Overnight in Monywa Day 3 - Monywa - Powintaung - Pakkoku - Bagan (B)
Head to Powintaung, home to 947 sandstone caves, believed to hold some of Southeast Asia's richest collection of mural paintings and Buddha statues. Nearby is Shwe Ba Taung, where monasteries and temples are carved out rocky narrow cliffs. Travel through the countryside for a stop at Kyet Su Kin village, with time to experience the lifestyle and culture of rural Burma. Proceed to the jetty and board a private local boat in Pakkoku for a leisurely, two hour cruise downriver to Bagan. Overnight in Bagan Day 4 - Bagan Villages - Departure (B)
