Absorb yourself in the delights of Myanmar with soft adventure excursion taking you from the vibrant city Mandalay to the forever enchanting and cultural Bagan. Explore the outskirts of Mandalay on bicycle. Pedal through the backstreets, stopping at colorful markets and meeting friendly locals in this amiable former capital. Head up Mandalay Hill and admire at the historic temples as well as fabulous views of the former capital.

Continuing the tour from Mandalay to Bagan, guests depart Mandalay and head for Monywa. Stop at Boditahtaung Pagoda home to the largest reclining Buddha image in Myanmar and witness the world's largest standing Buddha located nearby.

Revel in more archaeological wonders, with the first stop at Powintaung, home to an impressive collection of mural paintings and Buddha statues. Continue on and experience authentic rural ambiance as you drive along the countryside to Pakkoku village. Board a private boat after lunch to ferry you on to the shores of Bagan.

Visit Bagan's local villages and morning markets. Drop into a workshop and see firsthand the process of two of the region's best known products; handmade lacquer ware and wooden handicrafts. Take some time to venture Bagan's multitude of fascinating temples by bicycle or horse drawn cart and discover its unique heritage for the perfect finish to you Mandalay to Bagan tour.

Day 1 - Mandalay - Cycling - Mandalay (L)


Set off on a pleasant and undemanding guided bike ride through Mandalay's outskirts. Pass small villages, meet locals and experience the charm of rural Mandalay. After lunch you can freshen up at your hotel then make your way up Mandalay Hill for fabulous views back over the city.

Day 2 - Mandalay - Monywa (B)


Depart Mandalay for a 3-hour ride to Monywa; a typical Burmese town on the banks of the Chindwin River. Visit Thanboddhay Pagoda, a huge Buddhist temple covered with more than 500,000 Buddha images. Also stop at Boditahtaung Pagoda which houses the largest reclining Buddha image in Myanmar and nearby is the world's largest standing Buddha. Conclude the day with a calm moment by the banks of the river while absorbing the scenic sunset.

Day 3 - Monywa - Powintaung - Pakkoku - Bagan (B)


Head to Powintaung, home to 947 sandstone caves, believed to hold some of Southeast Asia's richest collection of mural paintings and Buddha statues. Nearby is Shwe Ba Taung, where monasteries and temples are carved out rocky narrow cliffs. Travel through the countryside for a stop at Kyet Su Kin village, with time to experience the lifestyle and culture of rural Burma. Proceed to the jetty and board a private local boat in Pakkoku for a leisurely, two hour cruise downriver to Bagan.

Day 4 - Bagan Villages - Departure (B)


Visit the local markets and villages of Bagan. Visit workshops showing the process of lacquering and carpentry. Explore the temples of Bagan at your leisure.
