A heady mix of colonial era buildings and crumbling Burmese architecture dispersed with bustling street markets and tea shops. Visit the impressive Shwedagon Pagoda and Kyaukhtatgyi Pagoda. From Yangon it's a short flight to Kawthaung, a sleepy fishing village and starting point for your cruise of the Myeik Archipelago. Depart the following day on a specially designed sail boat with 3 air conditioned cabins. The first stop is Myauk Phyu Island, roughly 4 hours from Kawthaung Port. Cruise through the unexplored waters and dine onboard as your sail boat glides through the sea. Next stop is Macleod Island, a thick tropical rainforest filled land with white sandy beaches and coral laden waters waiting discovery. From here it's off to Say Tan Island for a guided trek to see its famous wild monkeys. Next visit is Kyet Mauk Island where a lagoon the size of a football field is found inland containing corals and fish. The final island visited on your 4 day cruise is Myin Khwar, a rocky land containing one of the biggest bird's nest caves in the world. Returning to Kawthaung, your regional tour continues with a short transfer to Ranong in Thailand. From Ranong head south along the coast to Kuraburi for an evening, then to Baan Talay Nok where accommodation is a homestay for the night. You then pass rubber and oil palm plantations, exploring the rivers that cut through the mangrove forests and continue the journey south to Elephant Hills Khao Sok. Wake up to the sounds of gibbons calling amongst the misty tropical forest and enjoy a morning at a local elephant camp. After 3 nights on Khao Sok its time to head over to nearby Khao Lak for 4 nights spent relaxing at a private beach residence before finally transferring to Phuket Airport. Day 1 - Yangon
Visit the major attractions in Yangon that includes a visit to Kyaukhtatgyi Pagoda to see the reclining Buddha, a visit to a modern tea shop, a guided tour of Kandawagyi Park and exploration of the mighty Shwedagon Pagoda. Standing 99 meters tall the pagoda, covered in gold is visible from all over the city and makes an impressive landmark. Overnight in Yangon. Day 2 - Yangon - Kawthaung (B)
Fly to Kawthaung in the morning and on arrival spend the day at your leisure. This sleepy fishing town is a great place to relax and unwind. Explore the local shops then find a peaceful spot on the waterfront to watch the goings on. Overnight in Kawthaung. Day 3 - Kawthaung - Myauk Phyu Island (B,L,D)
Today you start a four night cruise on a specially designed sail boat with 3 air conditioned cabins. Depart from Kawthaung Port and head for Myauk Phyu Island enjoying lunch as you sail across the seas. On arrival at the island, jump into the clear seas to freshen up before relaxing on the deck for a sumptuous dinner. Overnight onboard near the island. Day 4 - Myauk Phyu - Macleod Island (B,L,D)Spend the morning kayaking, swimming and snorkeling around the island, exploring all it has to offer. The boat will then set sail at lunchtime and make its way to Macleod Island with lunch served onboard. Macleod Island is home to spectacular white sandy beaches and thick tropical rainforests, not to mention the delicious fresh seafood served for dinner. Overnight onboard near Macleod Island. Day 5 - Macleod Island - Say Tan (Dunkin) Island (B,L,D)Begin the day with a sailing trip to Say Tan Island, a small but diverse tropical island. A guided trek traverses the island that's notorious for its wild monkeys that can also be seen playing on the beach in the morning. Overnight Onboard Day 6 - Say Tan - Kyet Mauk (Cocks & Combe) (B,L,D)
After breakfast the boat sets sail for Kyet Mauk Island with lunch served onboard. A hidden lagoon on the island is full of colorful coral and fish. Take a kayak out or jump in for a swim before returning to your boat for evening dinner. Overnight onboard. Day 7 - Kyet Mauk Island - Myin Khwar (Horseshoe) Island - Kawthaung (B,L)The boat heads back to Kawthaung today, stopping at Myin Khwar Island on the way. Its rocky landscape is home to one of the biggest bird's nest caves in the world. On arrival at Kawthaung in the afternoon a local representative will meet and assist to ensure smooth running at immigration check point. Overnight in Kawthaung Day 8 - Kawthaung - Ranong - Kuraburi (B)Spend the morning at leisure before than either transferring to the airport for a flight to Yangon or crossing the Pakchan River to Ranong in Thailand. After clearing customs with your guide, a local representative will take you to your hotel in Kuraburi. Overnight in Kuraburi. Day 9 - Kuraburi - Baan Talay Nok (B,L,D)Spend the morning at leisure before than either transferring to the airport for a flight to Yangon or crossing the Pakchan River to Ranong in Thailand. After clearing customs with your guide, a local representative will take you to your hotel in Kuraburi. Overnight in Kuraburi. Day 10 - Ban Talae Nok - Kuraburi - Elephant Hill Khao Sok (B,L,D)
Go fishing in the morning and help the locals catch their food. After breakfast it's time to leave Kuraburi and head to Khao Sok. Head south and into the rich verdant rainforests. We explore the myriad of rivers and mangroves before taking lunch onboard a classic Burmese junk. In the late afternoon continue on to Khao Sok. Overnight in Khao Sok Day 11 - Elephant Hills Khao Sok (B,L,D)
Wake up to the sound of monkeys and birds calling from the surrounding forest. Visit an elephant camp to learn about the life of a Thai elephant and take part in our elephant experience. After a local lunch take a jungle river canoe down the Sok River passing limestone mountains and cliffs covered in lush vegetation. Overnight in Khao Sok Day 12 - Elephant Hills Khao Sok - Khao Lak
After breakfast take a walk into the jungle to experience the immensity of wildlife and its sheer size. Look, learn and listen as your guide walks you through the forest discovering the wide variety of flora and fauna. In the afternoon its time to head back to Elephant hills canp the transfer to Khao Lak, Overnight in Khao Lak Day 13 - 15: Khao Lak (B)Daily breakfast and beach stay in Khao Lak. Overnight in Khao Lak Day 16 - Khao Lak - Phuket (B)Breakfast then meet with guide and transportation for transfer to Phuket Airport. Take a flight for departure.
