Vientiane - Thakek - Ban Napouar - Sala Hinboun- Konglor Cave

Escape from Vientiane on this 3-day Kong Lor Caves tour and embark on a voyage of discovery through some of the most extraordinary and undiscovered scenery of the region. Just a three hour drive from the Laos capital and you will arrive Ban Na Hin, the gateway to the Kong Lor Caves where you will embark on a local slow boat to Sala Hinboun.

On the second day of this Laos tour take to the waters of the Hinbourn River as you embark on an excursion through spectacular limestone caves that tower overhead as you venture into a world of enigmatic stalactites and other limestone formations. Enjoy a riverside picnic lunch and swim in the cool waters of the lake before exploring the area in more detail at your own pace.

Explore the local village and meet the friendly inhabitants. For those who are eager to getter better acquainted with the Laos people there is an optional homestay in which travelers can spend the night with a local family. Spend the last day of this Kong Lor tour returning to Vientiane to continue with your Southeast Asia adventure, stopping en-route at a local restaurant to sample some famous Laotian cuisine.

Day 1 - Vientiane - Thakek - Ban Napouar - Sala Hinboun (L,D)

In the morning your guide and private car will meet you at your hotel and drive you from Vientiane about 3 hours on route 13 then route 8 to, the gateway to Konglor Caves. Lunch is served in a local restaurant before reaching Ban Napouar pier, 16 km further, where, depending on weather conditions, you will embark on a local slow boat or continue driving to Sala Hinboun (1 or 2 hours). Arrive in Sala Hinboun in the afternoon. The rest of the day is free at leisure.
Dinner and overnight at Sala Hinboun.

Day 2 - Sala Hinboun - Konglor Cave - Sala Hinboun (B,L,D)

After breakfast, start you day full day with a boat excursion through limestone caves and underground rivers of Konglor. Kong Lor Cave is an amazing 7.5 km-long limestone cave that was formed by the Hinboun River which flows through the cave year-round and that is reachable with a boat ride right through the main cavern, up to 90 meters wide and 100 meters high.
You will make stops on the way to observe stalactites and other limestone formations. The cave is still used by local villagers as an access route to the region beyond. Enjoy a picnic lunch along the riverside on the other side of the cave. Then you will visit the surroundings or swim in the Hinboun River. Return to Sala Hinboun late afternoon.
Dinner and overnight at Sala Hinboun.

Day 3 - Sala Hinboun - Ban Napouar - Vientiane (B,L)

After breakfast your guide will meet you at your hotel and transfer you by local slow boat or minivan to Ban Napouar Pier then back to Vientiane in A/C minivan. Lunch en route in a local restaurant. Arrive in Vientiane in the afternoon.
