The Grand Luang Prabang Hotel - Luang Prabang - Overview
Exemplifying the very best in Lao hospitality and offering quality accommodation in a secluded part of the city. The Grand is the premier destination in Luang Prabang.

The Grand is located within the immaculate gardens of the Xiengkeo palace. This site was chosen by the nationalist hero Prince Phetsarath who was enraptured with its stunning mountain views, tranquility, and location along the banks of the Mekong River. The Grand seamlessly blends in with its surrounding, as its buildings blend the styles of French colonial and local architecture.

Guests are greeted with the best in Lao hospitality, as the hotel's staff are professional and friendly. All of the hotel's rooms are decorated with teak floors, marble bathrooms, and lush textiles. Best of all, every room features a private balcony with breathtaking views of the Mekong River.

The Grand's serene location, just four kilometers from the heart of Luang Prabang, is the perfect place from which to explore the World Heritage city. A free shuttle bus can be arranged by the hotel to transfer you in to town for sightseeing.  After a day of touring, there is no more relaxing place in town to which to return. As the sunsets, enjoy a cocktail and delicious meal at the Grand's Xiengkeo Restaurant.

The Grand Luang Prabang Hotel address: Ban Xiengkeo, Khet Sangkalok P.O. Box 1191, Luang Prabang Lao PDR

The Grand Luang Prabang is located in a secluded compound on the banks of the Mekong River. The hotel is 4 kilometers from the city center and a 20 minute drive to the International Airport.

Who should go?
The Grand Luang Prabang is the only resort-style hotel in Laos and its exceptionally hospitable staff and outdoor swimming pool make it a great option for families. Couples and solo travelers will love the plush rooms and surrounding gardens which create a very intimate atmosphere. The distance from the city center may be a concern for those wishing to be in the heart of the action, however the hotel's free shuttle transfer and the abundance of local transportation mean that getting in to town is rarely an inconvenience.

When to go?
From November to February the weather in Laos is cool and dry while March to June sees temperatures soaring in to the high 30s (Celsius). July to October tend to be very rainy, washing out some roads thus making rural areas inaccessible. Several times a year Vientiane has boat racing competitions, where long wooden boats are raced up and down the Mekong River.

Where is it?
The Grand Luang Prabang was constructed on the grounds of XIengkeo Palace, once home to national hero Prince Phetsarath. The property is surrounded by lush gardens on the banks of the Mekong River about 5 kilometers from the center of the city and a 20 minute drive from the airport. A free shuttle bus runs regular services to and from the town.

What's not to be missed?
Watching the sunset over the Mekong at Sunset Bar. Searching for unique handicrafts at the evening hilltribe market.  Cruising the streets of Luang Prabang by electric bike. Cooling off at The Grand's swimming pool.

What's cooking?
The Grand has two restaurants and a bar, all offering impeccable service in a relaxing atmosphere. Xiengkeo Restaurant serves a diverse mix of Lao, Thai and international cuisines. The restaurant is housed in an elegant building with high ceilings and polished marble floors, accented by the breathtaking river views. Le Bistrot Lounge is a casual dining option serving drinks and light meals and is a popular nighttime venue for listening to live music. Or for a more serene setting, enjoy a cocktail at the al fresco sunset bar as the sun dips in to the Mekong River.
