Tokyo - Hakone/Mt. Fuji - Tokyo

Head over to the mountains and bask in one of Japan's most iconic national relics, the mighty and impressive Mount Fuji. Just 100 kilometers from Tokyo, the volcano and the surrounding national park features several natural and cultural attractions, all encircled by several forested mountains and has a beauty dramatically accented by deep glens and ravines.

Hop on the train for the two hour journey to Hakone, the gateway to Mt. Fuji. The town itself is located on the collapsed remains of a volcano and is highly natural, a stark contrast to the bustle of the capital.

Head over to the Hakone Air Museum, home to a very impressive array of sculptures with beautiful views of the surrounding valley and mountains as backdrop. Also inside are Picasso collections and an onsen (hot spring) footbath.

The next day of this Japan tour is set aside for exploration of Fuji Hakone National Park. Ride the world's second longest cable car up Mt Owakudani, passing over sulfurous fumes, hot springs and hot rivers. Boil an egg, enjoy it, and add seven years to your life!

Ride a majestic replica pirate ship that will cruise across Ashinoko, a lake formed by a volcanic eruption 3000 years ago. Then, hop onboard the Hakone Tozan switchback train while it meanders though the mountains. Be prepared for amazing views of the surrounding valleys.

Further revel in the history and natural wonders of the town with a visit to the Hakone Checkpoint Museum and hike along an original part of the Old Tokaido Highway.

Hakone is filled with onsen to try, including Yunessun, which has sake, green tea, coffee and wine hot springs baths! Also keep in mind that Mount Fuji is present in the background at all times during this Japan tour.
