The town is famous for its onsen natural hot springs and has an abundance of soothing natural beauty. There will be ample time to soak it all in, whether by foot, cable car and by ship.
Hop onboard the world famous bullet train, zipping at up to 300 kilometers an hour to Takayama, winding through tall mountains and stunning gorges along the way. Sample some sake at a local brewery, visit the local market and indulge in the town's workshops in a unique and almost isolated town.
Another stunning train journey awaits alongside the Sea of Japan to Kanazawa. Bask in the tranquil and charming environment, perhaps the best-preserved major Edo-period city in the country.
The next scenic train ride takes you to Hiroshima. The city has risen from the tragic past to proudly boast wide boulevards, a laid back ambiance and friendly people. Soak in the history and character of the city, visiting museums, parks and the Floating Torii Gate.
Board the bullet train one last time to Kyoto, Japan's cultural capital. From castles to shrines and hands-on activities like Calligraphy or Origami experiences, Kyoto will surely leave a positive impression.
The final destination on this Japan tour is Nara, the former capital during the 8th century. Experience the city's main sites with the revered deer residents; believed to be the gods' messengers. Day 1 - Tokyo Arrival

Spend the whole day exploring Tokyo, taking in sites like Meiji Jingu and Sensoji Temple, just to name a few. Cruise down the Sumida Gawa River to Hamarikyu-tien, the private garden during the Edo Period.
Overnight in Tokyo. Day 3 - Tokyo - Optional Kamakura Day Trip (B)
Explore Tokyo at leisure. Suggestions include the Tsukji Fish Market, the electronics district of Akihabara or any of the city's museums. Another option is a visit seaside town of Kamakura.
Overnight in Tokyo. Day 4 - Tokyo - Hakone/Mt Fuji (B,D)
Take the two hour journey to Hakone. Ride the cable cars up the mountain to hot springs, hot rivers and sulfurous fumes. Board a replica pirate ship for a cruise along Lake Ashinoko.
Overnight in Hakone. Day 5 - Hakone/Mt Fuji - Takayama (B,D)
A four hour train ride through tall mountains and gorges takes you to Takayama. Visit one of the town's sake breweries.

After breakfast, head up to the Miyagawa morning market for fresh regional produce. Then head to Hida No Sato Folk Village via bus ride, followed by a visit to the Takayama Festival Floats museum.

Take another scenic train ride, this time along the Sea of Japan to Kanazawa. This afternoon, head to the Nagamachi Samurai district, including a visit to the Saihitsuan Yuzen Silk Center as well as the Nomura Samurai House.

Today, head to Kenroku-en garden, ranked as one of the top three in Japan, A visit to the imposing Kanazawa Castle next door is also a must do. The tour also includes the impressive Museum of Contemporary Art, the local market and several temples.

Take the four hour train ride to Hiroshima. Relax or explore the city at leisure this afternoon.

Head to Peace Park and remember the victims from the tragic event in 1945. Take a short ferry ride to Miyajima Island, a famous wooded island located in the Inland Sea and home to The Floating Torii Gate.
Overnight in Hiroshima. Day 11 - Hiroshima - Kyoto (B)
Board the Shinkansen for the two hour bullet train journey to Kyoto. Learn about and create traditional Japanese art at the home of an actual instructor.
Overnight in Kyoto. Day 12 - Kyoto (B)
Explore the former imperial capital, utilizing the city's comprehensive bus system to visit some of Kyoto's World Heritage Sites, including castles, gardens, pavilions and temples. Overnight in Kyoto Day 13 - Kyoto and Nara (B)
This morning take the short 45min trip by train to Nara. Wander Nara Park and marvel at the many temples and shrines, amidst the resident deer population.
