OVERVIEW

Dress up traditional Japanese style when you are helped into a summer kimono by a professional dresser. Once clothed you will set about having a fantastic cultural experience with in an authentic Kyoto townhouse, made from wood. Pose for pictures before participating in a chanoyu, or Tea Ceremony, where you will learn the intracaies applied to the pracice before trying your own hand at making some tea.

 

PROGRAM DETAILS

Today you will visit a beautifully restored machiya (traditional Kyoto wooden townhouse) for a fantastic cultural experience.

First, you will have the opportunity to wear a kimono. You will be dressed by a professional kimono dresser who will explain to you the background and history of kimono, and you will be able to take pictures afterwards.

Next, you will participate in a chanoyu, or Tea Ceremony. Your instructor will give insight into the history behind all the intricate movements of the ceremony, and you will also be able to try your hand at making your own tea.

After the tea ceremony you will be able make a quick tour around the area and visit a nearby sake brewery for a sake tasting
