Sights & Places

From the eclectic and bustling action of Tokyo to the peaceful serenity of Mt Fuji, spiritual center of Kyoto and tropical beaches of Okinawa, the ‘Land of the Rising Sun’ is truly diverse in its offerings. From the world’s largest fish market of Tsukiji to the fashion district of Harajuku, its revered temples and peaceful tea ceremonies, Tokyo is a capital city that has it all. A small joyful city, Kyoto offers a relaxing and experience filled insight to the country’s ancient traditions through its fascinating heritage, architecture and people. Situated in the southern-central region of the country, the Kansai area offers a diverse selection of activities to engage in. Home to mouth watering cuisine, a unique heritage and deep historical roots, Kansai entices travelers with an interesting array of engaging experiences with nearby Nara and Osaka offering very different attractions.

Japan boasts four distinct seasons in line with the Western Hemisphere. From March to April the climate is pleasantly warm with limited rainfall. This time of year also welcomes the infamous cherry blossoms, a simply stunning attraction for visitors. From June to August, the heat and humidity of summer hits with temperatures reaching 400C. As a general rule this isn't the most popular time to travel, though it can mean fewer crowds if you are willing to bear the heat. Another inside tip and great alternative to viewing the spring cherry blossoms are the autumn colors in November. However, this can be a very busy time in specific areas such as Kyoto. With the temperature cooling from September, autumn becomes a very pleasant time of year to visit Japan. With winter come superb skiing opportunities and the chance to try out many of the Onsens (hot springs). These attractions remain open right up to the end of February.
