Solo or Jogjakarta - Candirejo - BorobudurJogjakarta is the smallest and most commonly visited province of Java and is usually pronounced and written Jogjakarta, or simply Jogja. This 3-day Indonesia tour is not too intense, offering a balance between time spent at your own leisure and following our itinerary.
The Indonesia tour package begins with an excursion the ninth century Hindu temple, Prambanan. The largest Hindu temple in Indonesia and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, you’ll explore the grand structures with your guide and learn about the history and great significance of this important religious center. This is followed by a performance of the Ramayana Dance, while savoring some local cuisine at a traditional restaurant.
The only Indonesian province still governed by its pre-colonial monarchy, the 16th century built Sultans Palace or ‘Kraton’ as it is known, serves as the centre of the city and offers huge insight into Javanese heritage and culture. Also visited on day two of the tour is the ‘Taman Sari’, a water palace and garden, built by the first Sultan for his harem. This architectural spectacle can be discovered at a leisurely pace while accompanied by an experienced exo guide who will happily answer any questions you have.
To balance out the relaxation part of the tour you are then invited on a horse cart ride through Candirejo village. Sit back and soak in the sites of traditional rural Indonesia as you pass through narrow laneways lined with houses and shops.
Jogjakarta city is considered to be the center of classical Javanese fine art and culture, consequently the tour places a big emphasis on the creative and architectural elements of the city, allowing you to immerse yourself in the religiously affiliated structures.
Perhaps the most enchanting feature on this Indonesia tour is the sunrise visit to the ninth-century built Borobudur. The oldest Buddhist temple in the world is made all the more memorable by the tranquility of dawn and notable lack of crowds.
