OVERVIEW

Led by experienced guides and villagers, this full day Bali trekking tour takes you through a hidden part of the island where small villages and exotic wildlands converge. Taking place in the North of Bali and supporting a local charity, this is an ideal and responsible way for outdoor lovers to venture into the heart of the island.

PROGRAM DETAILS

Awake early to make the most of your trekking trip! You'll be picked up as the sun is rising (departing from South Bali around 05.00 am or from Ubud around 06.00am) and drive northwards to Songan, near Mt Batur.

Around 08.00 am you'll reach the trekking start point: the top of Songan, a lakeside village. Along with experience local guides as well as villagers to help keep you on course, the moderate route passes through wild vegetation as you clmib up rolling hills. Tucked into the hillside, you'll discover small villages nestled amid the trees and after reaching the top, descend to the dry coastline of northern Bali.

Along the way, your guides are an excellent source of knowledge pointing out local vegetation and various wildlife along the way. The area is so serene that the only noise you are likely to hear is the sound of your own feet as you hike along. Keep an eye out as there are occasional views of Lake Batur and the Indian Ocean in the distance that are spectacular.

Also en route, a stop will be made in Cangkeng Village where you can rest your weary legs and enjoy a drink of fresh young coconut. In this village you will also see one of the water supply projects of the local charity Yayasan Masa Depan Untuk Anak Anak (Foundation for the Future of Children) and witness income-generating activities established to support the women in the community.

After your hike, a short drive transfers you to the coast arriving in time for lunch. A delicious meal will be served and there is time to relax near the beach and take a swim if you'd like.

Take a refreshing dip into the sea before heading back to your villa and hotel. Driving distance to Ubud: approx. 2.5 hours; South of Bali: approx. 3.5 h. (L)

Yayasan Masa Depan Untuk Anak Anak is a Swiss-Indonesian non-profit organisation. It helps the people of Muntigunung to improve their living conditions long-term, by providing water catchment systems and enabluing locals to generate sustainable income.

With your participation, you direcly support this project while enjoing some of Bali's most spectacular views.
