Join friendly villagers as they go about their daily routines and explore the stunning landscapes of rural Bali with this full day guided Bali countryside excursion. Alongside the locals, you’ll make temple offerings, learn to play traditional instruments and cook up a delicious lunch before heading through the countryside to the rice terraces and temples of Jatiluwih area. This is a fabulous excursion for those wanting to discover authentic Bali.

PROGRAM DETAILS

Depart this morning with your guide and driver for the town of Tabanan, known as the rice basket of Bali. You'll spend this morning in a typical Balinese village compound joining in the daily activities of the villagers. You'll learn to make traditional temple offerings, take a gamelan (a Balinese stringed instrument) lesson and partake in a hands-on cooking course followed by a lunch of your freshly-prepared dishes. Throughout the morning you will discover more about the culture and lifestyle of the rural Balinese as you interact with your friendly hosts.

This afternoon you'll drive to Jatiluwih, an inland area with panoramic views of the rice terraces. The terraces are located on the sloping land near the holy mountain of Batukaru.

After enjoying the views, continue to Batukaru temple, one of the 9 major temples of Bali. The temple is located at the base of the second highest mountain in Bali (2671m), second only to Mt. Agung.

Return to your hotel in the south late this afternoon. (L)
