On the road you'll pass by local trucks piled high with a mix of people and luggage and ox-carts hauling goods from farms to the market.

For the intrepid, a stop can be made in Skoun, a small town known for their local delicacy: fried tarantulas. Day 1 - Phnom Penh - Kampong Thom (L,D)

Travel from Phnom Penh through the heart of Cambodia, passing countryside villages and scenes of rural life, as you make your way to Kampong Thom. Stop at a local breeding project for spiders- a traditional delicacy- as well as the ancient temple of Wat Nokor in the riverside town of Kampong Cham. After visiting the town's market, continue to Kampong Thom arriving in the late afternoon.

Overnight in Kampong Thom.

Day 2 - Kampong Thom - Sambor Prey Kuk - Siem Reap (B)

This morning, visit the 6^th and 7^th century temples at Sambor Prey Kuk, situated 28km from Kampong Thom. Free of crowds and located along a network of shady paths, you will explore on foot or by bike with your local guide who will explain the history and construction of these beautiful ruins. After lunch served at the temples, visit a local shop established to help preserve traditional handicrafts followed. Resume your journey to Siem Reap by road, travelling past more small villages and scenic rice fields. On arrival at R Siem Reap, you'll be transferred to your hotel for check in or to the airport for your onward flight
