Spend three days relaxing by the seaside and enjoy this 'yet to be discovered' destination.

Set off from Phnom Penh for a leisurely drive southwards toward the coast, stopping en route to discover this intriguing part of the country. Visit Phnom Chisor temple, the Angkorian-style Tonle Bati and ancient ruins of Phnom Da. Continuing through the Takeo province, a boat trip takes you through more stunning scenery to a fascinating archeological museum.

Reaching Kep in the late afternoon you will slip into the slow rhythms of the laid back town and The next day embark on a boat trip to Rabbit Island. Located just an hour from Kep, this uninhabited island is the perfect place to spend the day and is certain to be a highlight of your Cambodia tour. Explore the beautiful beaches, swim in the clear waters or take a two hour trek through the island's interior. After lunch, return to land for an afternoon at leisure.

Your final day on the Cambodian coast is free to explore as you wish before driving three hours back to the capital. Should you wish to continue your Cambodia tour, add a few extra days in Kep or neighboring Sihanoukville or travel overland to Vietnam's Mekong Delta region. 

Depart Phnom Penh for the journey to Kep. As you travel south, enjoy the spectacular views of the countryside and stop to discover ancient temples, meandering rivers and quaint villages.On the way, you'll pass Tonle Bati, a recreational area with a garden and temple. Stop at Takeo and board a boat to the archaeological museum of Angkor Borei and the temple ruins of Phnom Da. Your next destination is Phnom Chisor, where you'll climb to the top for superb views. Reach Kep this evening and dine on delicious seafood on the coast.

Overnight in Kep.

Early this morning, embark on a boat trip to Koh Tonsai (Rabbit Island), where you can spend the day at leisure exploring the island's beautiful beaches. On arrival you will settle for the day on a small local camp with a restaurant and other simple facilities. Swim, snorkel or take a two hour trek through the island's interior and enjoy lunch on the beach before returning to land in the afternoon.

Overnight in Kep.

Enjoy the morning at leisure with an optional visit to the Crab Market. After lunch return to Phnom Penh (3 hours), extend your Cambodia tour with a trip to Sihanoukville or cross over the border to Vietnam.

Cambodia's South is barely known as a holiday destination but is one of my favorite places in Asia- it has something for everyone. Sihanoukville is great for a few carefree days by the beach, but I prefer to go into the wild in Koh Kong, trek in the virtually unexplored Cardamom Mountains and see the mangrove forests by boat. My favorite place however is Kep, for its tranquility, beautiful views and many activities. Hard to decide whether I want to go cycling, trekking or visit the caves of Kampong Trach - or just be lazy in my hammock!
