Phnom Penh - Oudong - Phnom PenhLocated at the confluence of the Mekong and Tonle Sap rivers, Phnom Penh is a city full of tree lined boulevards, majestic colonial era buildings and fascinating temples. Begin your tour of Phnom Penh with a relaxing sightseeing excursion around the city, visiting famous temples such as Wat Phnom and the Royal Palace located on the riverfront. You will also head to the Silver Pagoda, named for the 5000 shining silver tiles that cover its floors. Next stop is the National Museum, home to the world's foremost collection of ancient Khmer artistic, archaeological and religious artifacts from the 4th to 14th centuries. Your tour of Phnom Penh continues with a river cruise through the city to see the riverside entertainment and admire an atmospheric Cambodian sunset. To learn about the countries turbulent past we visit Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum run by the Khmer Rouge and used as a torture center. We also visit the killing fields of Choeung Ek to understand the historical atrocities experienced in Cambodia. From here it's a short transfer to the humanitarian organization Pour un Sourire d'Enfant, that provides education and job training to street children. As a guest you will dine at the center and meet the many children who receive support. We then head to a colorful market where an assortment of souvenirs, jewelry, clothing and food is sold before spending an evening at the Sovanna Phoum Theatre & Art Gallery for a Shadow puppet theatre performance. Spend your last full day visiting Wat Botum in the morning and then taking part in a hands-on cooking course under the guidance of a chef.
