Siem Reap

A Cambodia travel experience is not quite complete until you have witnessed the stunning beauty of Angkor, a UNESCO World Heritage Site dotted with ancient temple ruins and towering monuments. To allow travelers to fully experience Angkor's magnificence, this 3-day Angkor tour package is specially designed to encompass visits to the 'must see' and hidden temple sites with a local boat cruise along the Tonle Sap Lake.

After your arrival in Siem Reap, begin your Angkor sightseeing with an excursion to the famous Angkor Wat by local tuk tuk. Built during the reign of King Suryavarman II in the early 12th century, Angkor Wat is constructed following the model of the temple mountain symbolizing Mount Meru, the home of the gods. As the day comes to a close, experience the Asparas during sunset, when they glimmer in the fading light.

The next day, explore the temples of the Small Circuit, including the famous Ta Prohm temple which is a crumbling site overgrown with jungle trees and vines. Continue to Banteay Kdei, a Buddhist monastery from the late 12th century, and Srah Srang, also known as the 'pool of ablutions'.  Later on, visit the ancient city of Angkor Thom. Angkor Thom was the last capital of the Great Khmer Empire under the reign of Jayavarman VII. This city is surrounded by an 8 m high wall, drawing a perfect square.  Complete your day at Bayon temple.

On the last morning, be immersed into the local life with a fascinating boat trip on Tonle Sap Lake, Cambodia's lifeblood and the biggest freshwater body in Southeast Asia. As you sail across the lake, you will see floating stilt houses and flooded forests as well as fishermen with their catches and laughing children playing in water.

Capturing the magnificence of Angkor with our handpicked selection of temple ruins and unique excursions that delve into Cambodia's rural life, our Essential Angkor tour will leave you with unforgettable memories of Cambodia.
