SIEM REAP - PHNOM PENH - TAKEO - KEP - KAMPOT- PHNOM PENH


A spectacular photo workshop tour of Cambodia, lead by internationally renowned photographer, Gunther Deichmann. Improve your photographic skills with expert guidance every step of the way. A specialist at working with light and creating dramatic photos, Gunther is a multi-award winning photographer and will pass on his professional expertise through practical, hands-on direction.

Begin this mesmerizing tour of Cambodia with a visit to one of Southeast Asia's magnificent sights and structures, the Angkor Wat complex near Siem Reap. Angkor Wat is constructed following the model of the temple mountain symbolizing the Mount Meru, home of the gods. Spend time exploring and photographing famous temples such as Ta Prohm, Angkor Thom and Bayon Temple.

Transfer to Phnom Kulen on our Cambodian tour, an impressive sandstone plateau situated outside Siem Reap. There will be opportunities to stop and catch shots of the local village scenes as you make your way cross country. At the top of Phnom Kulen, you will discover stone carvings in a riverbed, a large reclining Buddha from the 16th century and visit several hidden pagodas. We also visit Tonle Sap Lake while in Siem Reap. Learn about life on the lake and board a boat to visit Kampong Phluck village. Enjoy lunch with a family in one of the floating houses on the lake.

From Siem Reap we head to Phnom Penh. Spend your first evening in the capital city unwinding by the banks of the Mekong River. The following day we explore the intriguing city of Phnom Penh. Travel by cyclo to see the Royal Palace, Silver Pagoda Wat Phnom and Wat Prakeo. Continue to the National Museum, built in traditional Khmer style. We then head to Tuol Sleng Prison and the killing fields at Choeng Ek to learn of the evils of the Khmer Rouge.

From Phnom Penh we head south for Takeo Province. Visit the countryside town of Takeo, a beautiful small city, then continue to Kep. A fascinating mix of a small calm beaches, reminders of the regions past and a growing choice of energising activities. From Kep we head to Kampot, a charming riverside town and then finish our tour of Cambodia by returning to Phnom Penh for a final night.

Day 1 - Sep 23rd: ARRIVE IN SIEM REAP


This afternoon we head to the mother of all temples, Angkor Wat. Built during the reign of King Suryavarman II in the early 12th century, Angkor Wat is constructed following the model of the temple mountain symbolizing the Mount Meru, home of the gods. Peruse the temples at your leisure and enjoy the opportunity to take photos around the temples at sunset for some fantastic images.

Day 2 - Sep 24th: SIEM REAP (B)


Wake up in the early morning and transfer to Angkor Wat temple for sunrise. You will see the temple in a different way from your previous day with the morning light. Continue the visit to the famous temple of Ta Prohm. This is the overgrown jungle temple which has featured in several Hollywood movies including Tomb Raider. In the afternoon, visit the South Gate of Angkor Thom. Angkor Thom was the last capital of the Great Khmer Empire under the reign of Jayavarman VII.

Day 3 - Sep 25th: SIEM REAP (B,L)


Continue your journey to the impressive sand plateau of Phnom Kulen. At the top of Phnom Kulen, you will discover stone carvings in a riverbed, a large reclining Buddha from the 16th century and several hidden pagodas.Guests can also relax in the cooling waters of a stunning waterfall.

Day 4 - Sep 26th: SIEM REAP (B,L)


Take a boat trip on Tonle Sap, Southeast Asia's largest freshwater lake. Board a local boat and visit the village of Kampong Phluck. See the houses constructed on stilts and nearby floating houses. An impressive portrayal of life on the water. Today you will enjoy lunch served in one of the floating houses.

Day 5 - Sep 27: SIEM REAP - PHNOM PENH (B,L)


Depart from Siem Reap and head to Phnom Penh by car. Journey through the beautiful Cambodian countryside via Kampong Thom and Kamphong Cham provinces. Also visit the spider market at Skun, where the local speciality of deep fried tarantulas can be sampled. In the evening find a relaxing restaurant by the river in which to unwind.

Day 6 - Sep 28th: PHNOM PENH (B)


In a Cyclo, a fun and exciting way to travel around. Head to the Royal Palace that dates back to 1866 and houses the Silver Pagoda. In the afternoon a tour of Tuol Sleng Prison (S-21) and the Killing Fields at Choeng Ek is a sobering reminder of the evils of the Khmer Rouge regime. Although not a joyful tour, visiting these monuments unlocks keys to understanding the development of this still developing country.

Day 7 - Sep 29th: PHNOM PENH - TAKEO - KEP (B,L)


In the early morning leave Phnom Penh in a southerly direction for Takeo Province. On the way, you will visit Phnom Chisor, where you can climb up to the top of the mountain to explore the well-preserved ruins of a 10th century Angkorian temple. Enjoy an amazing view over the typical Cambodian countryside. Continue to Kep where you will find a glorious seaside resort town.

Day 8 - Sep 30th: KEP- KAMPOT- PHNOM PENH (B,L)


In the early morning visit Phnom Chhnork, a series of limestone caves, with many stalactites in the shape of animals. Continue a short distance to Kampot, a charming riverside town with magnificent surroundings still dominated by French colonial architecture. Explore Kampot on a walking tour and absorb the laid-back atmosphere. After lunch return to Phnom Penh.

Day 9 - Oct 1st: PHNOM PENH - DEPARTURE


Day free at leisure until transferring to Phnom Penh airport for your onward departure flight.
