Who should go?
Our advice: the best boutique accommodation option in Kampong Thom, Sambor Village is suitable for travelers looking to experience life in a quiet provincial town without giving up the conveniences of the modern world. Situated mid-way between Siem Reap and Phnom Penh, the resort also makes an inviting stopover for those looking to break up the overland journey between these two cities.

When to go?
Similar to Siem Reap, Kampong Thom has two distinctive seasons: rainy from June to October and dry from November to May. Traveling during the rainy season has its benefits as landscapes are lush and great for photo opportunities. The rains are usually in the afternoon and last 2-3 hours. The dry season can be very dusty, but easier for sightseeing. The temperature hovers around 30-35 ºC during the day time, although November to January often experience cooler temperatures.

Where is it?
Nestled on the banks of Stung Seng River on Democrat Street (Brochea Thebatey), Sambor Village is a leisurely walk or short drive from the Kampong Thom town center. Several attractions lie within easy accessibility from Sambor Vllage, including Sambor Prey Kuk situated a 40-minute drive away. Located midway between Siem Reap and Phnom Penh, the hotel is conveniently reached by driving along the National Highway No. 6 that links these two cities.

What's not to be missed?
A relaxed swim in the pool. A meal on the wooden terrace overlooking the pool and river. An exotic cocktail by the poolside. A bicycle ride along the idyllic Stung Seng River. An excursion to explore the Sambor Prey Kuk ruins.

What's cooking?
Sambor Village's skilled chefs seek out fresh ingredients from nearby markets everyday and make them into delicious dishes for guests' dining pleasure. The menu includes a variety of steaks, pastas, local specialties and some Vietnamese dishes. Meals are served on the al fresco restaurant overlooking the swimming pool. For exotic cocktails or fresh fruit juices, head to the poolside bar.
