Yangon - Bagan - Mt. Popa - Thandwe - Ngapali

From dawn until dusk Myanmar is full of beauty. Witness a magnificent sun set over the temples of Bagan and enjoy a tranquil sunrise over the clear blue waters of Bay of Bengal. Explore the country's rich spiritual and cultural history before relaxing the second half of the trip on pristine beaches. Relax and enjoy the best of Myanmar's culture and beaches as you travel on Exotissimo's Myanmar Horizons' tour.

Your tour begins with your arrival in to Yangon. This charming city is full of lush parks and lakes, bustling streets, and golden temples. Learn about the country's history at the National Museum, bargain for handicrafts at Scott Market, and stare in awe at the 98-metre gilded stupa of Shwedagon Pagoda.

Fly north to the mystical planes of Bagan. Situated along the banks of the Irrawaddy River, Bagan served as the country's capital from the 9th to 13th centuries. Prolific temple building during that era resulted in thousands of stupas dotting the landscape, hundreds of which still remain. Explore the intricate paintings, gilded spires, and enormous brick work as you tour the temples with your knowledgeable guide. Whilst in Bagan, you will also visit local markets and villages where traditional workshops produce exquisite laquerware products. A visit to the nearby Mt Popa is an unforgettable experience. Witness the locals making pilgrimages to this extinct volcano that they believe is home to the culture's ancient spirits, called nats.

Several days of relaxation await you as you continue your journey to Ngapali Beach. Situated on the Bay of Bengal, this 3 kilometer stretch of beach features soft white sands, calm blue waters, and coconut palms lining the edges. Despite the fantastic hotels and mouth-watering seafood, very few tourists visit this area, so Ngapali often feels like a private beach. Fill your days with snorkeling, boat trips, and fishing or opt to relax on the beach or with a private massage treatment.

As you return to Yangon, reflect on the wondrous beauty and culture that you have encountered on your tour in Myanmar as well as the friendly and welcoming locals.

Your day's tour, takes you to some of the best known sites including: Shwezigon, Ananda, Htilominlo, Sulamani, amongst others. The local people believe that Mount Popa is home to 37 nats, ancient animist spirits, and they come to the shrine to pay homage and make offerings to these spirits. After your visit, enjoy sweeping views of the valley below as you dine at the Popa Mountain Resort, nestled in the hills behind Mount Popa.
