PHNOM PENH - SIHANOUKVILLE - KAMPOT - KEP - TAKEO - PHNOM PENH - SIEM REAP - ANGKOR - SIEM REAP

Though the ruins of Angkor and the beaches of Sihanoukville area already drawing visitors to Cambodia, much of the country remains relatively unexplored. On this adventure, you will cross the former Khmer empire as you cycle through rice paddies fringed with sugar palms, past craggy mountains clad in jungle, to the country's sparkling unspoiled coastline. By enjoying delicious local cuisine in village homes, visiting small-town markets and relaxing among serene temple ruins in the country's fertile south, you'll experience a unique side of this compelling country away from the tourists and touts.

Your adventure begins in Phnom Penh, the country's chaotic capital. Leaving the pulsing city streets behind, you'll travel south through lush countryside to the coast, where you will be able to enjoy tropical white sand beaches, visit a secluded island and explore dusty French villas in old colonial towns. Traveling back toward Phnom Penh, you will stay in a typical Cambodian town where the market is still the centre of daily life. A visit to the mostly deserted Tonle Bati Temple will offer you your first glimpse of Angkor-era ruins.

Spend one more night in the capital before heading to Siem Reap, an engaging town that serves as gateway to the magnificent Angkor temple complexes, a highlight of any tour to Cambodia. While cycling through towering jungle you will encounter magnificent ancient sites like the Bayon and the Ta Phrom, before experiencing the awe-inspiring Angkor Wat.  Your time in Cambodia will draw to an end, as you enjoy the rest of your time in Cambodia sampling Khmer spices and flavors at local restaurants, watching a traditional Khmer ballet, and browsing through the silk and crafts at the central market.

Come delve into the mysteries of the Khmer empire with us… no one knows Cambodia like Exotissimo!

Creating Unique Touring Experiences
All the touring itineraries on this website have been carefully crafted by our in-country management teams and represent a series of experiences we can certainly recommend. However, we understand that every travel experience should be as unique and individual as each traveller. Our consultants are waiting to hear from you so that we can tailor or custom design a tour to your individual specifications.
Day 1 - Phnom Penh (D)

Arrive in Phnom Penh, and enjoy the day at your leisure. Known at one time as the most beautiful city in the Orient, Phnom Penh is an appealing riverside capital of frenetic marketplaces and inviting sidewalk cafes.

Overnight in Phnom Penh.

Day 2 - Phnom Penh - Sihanoukville (B,L,D)

Depart from Phnom Penh, heading south through rocky hills and overgrown plantations to Sihanoukville, Cambodia's premier beach resort. You'll arrive early, giving you lots of time to enjoy the town's wide sparkling beaches. In the late afternoon, climb on board your bike for a trip up to a hilltop pagoda, where you'll be rewarded with unforgettable views over the coast.

Overnight in Sihanoukville.

Day 3 - Sihanoukville - Kampot (B,L,D)

We'll depart from Sihanoukville early, so you can enjoy the day out in the countryside on your bicycle. We'll cycle through countryside on the road to Kampot, against a backdrop of the magnificent Elephant Mountains. After a picnic among rice fields or in a local's home, we'll arrive in Kampot, where you'll enjoy the sunset while strolling among the French Colonial Buildings that line the riverfront. (Approximately 85km of cycling)

Overnight in Kampot.

Day 4 - Kampot - Kep (B,L,D)

A gentle 25kms of cycling will bring you to Kep, a small fishing town on the gulf of Thailand. Formerly a popular French resort town, the seaside resort was practically abandoned to the wilderness, and the lush forest conceals the ruins of gracious colonial villas. After checking in at our hillside hotel, we'll set out into the gulf to enjoy the secluded white sand beaches at Koh Tonsai, Rabbit Island.

Overnight in Kep.

Day 5 - Kep - Takeo (B,L,D)

Depart from Kep by bicycle and journey to another provincial capital, Takeo. A distinctly Cambodian town, Takeo's markets and streets will offer you an intimate look at daily life in the rural countryside. In the afternoon, we'll leave the town's traffic behind as we cycle through the surrounding fields, where everyone—even women—will be welcomed by the chorus of children shouting, “Hello Mister!” (Approximately 75km of cycling)

Overnight in Takeo.

Day 6 - Takeo - Phnom Penh (B,L,D)

An early start will set us off back in the direction of Phnom Penh. On the way, we'll stop at Tonle Bati Temple, a recreation area where local people like to spend their free time. During the week, however, it's virtually deserted, and you'll have the Angkorian style temple and gracious gardens to yourself. (Approximately 75km of cycling)

Overnight in Phnom Penh.

Day 7 - Phnom Penh - Siem Reap (B,L,D)

Today we head to Siem Reap, gateway to the mysterious ruins of Angkor. After lunch at a local restaurant, you'll cycle 8km through shady forest roads as you explore the sprawling complex of temples and ruins. Along the way, you'll visit a number of engaging sites as you begin to delve into the complex history of ancient Khmer civilization. (Approximately 25km of cycling)

Overnight in Siem Reap.

Day 8 - Siem Reap - Angkor - Siem Reap (B,L,D)

Prepare to be astounded as we journey to Angkor Wat, the largest religious structure in the world, and an unforgettable fortress of stone pinnacles, intricately carved reliefs, and colorful shrines. You'll also visit Ta Phrom, a temple overgrown with python-like strangler trees, and the Bayon, a towering ruin guarded with hundreds of mysterious stone faces. Over dinner, enjoy a performance of traditional Khmer ballet. (Approximately 30km of cycling)

Overnight in Siem Reap.

Day 9 - Siem Reap Departure (B)

Enjoy your final day in Cambodia by exploring Siem Reap on your own. Bargain for silk scarves or shadow puppets at Psar Chas, the Old Market, or relax into a wicker chair in a sidewalk café. We will transfer you to the airport for your flight back home, wishing you bon voyage and hoping that you enjoyed your journey with Exotissimo!
