Pandaw 1947

The Ayravata Cruise, operated by Pandaw 1947, will launch a special two-day New Year Cruise on 30th December 2005 from Bagan and arrive in Mandalay on the morning of 1st January 2006. The New Year’s Eve party will be celebrate on Sandback Island overlooking Sagaing and Ava Bridge, with tables and chairs set up around a bonfire decorated with torches and candles. A live band plays music during dinner and after for some barefoot dancing on soft white sand until midnight, when the traditional Mi Buon Pyan, or fire balloons, are launched into the sky.

The paradisiac islands of the Myeik Archipelago in the south of Myanmar are experience a surge of interest from visitors and tour operators alike. Three companies have expanded their cruise programmes for the archipelago for the upcoming season from October 2005 to May 2006.

Gaea at Myeik Archipelago

South-East-Asia Liveaboards (SEAL) runs a six-day diving and adventure trip on the Gaea sailing yacht with a maximum of eight pax from 1050 USD/pax, and a six-day boat-supported adventure camp, which includes camping on beaches, sea kayaking and trekking, for a maximum of ten pax from 965 USD/pax.

Kawthaung-based Moby Dick Tours runs a six-day eco-adventure cruise on La Fortune, a refitted wooden junk-style vessel for a maximum of eight pax out of Kawthaung with snorkelling, kayaking and discovering uninhabited islands from 1080 USD/pax. There is also a comfortable nine-day diving itinerary in Myanmar and Phuket from 2160 USD/pax and a more basic three-day loop on the Sea Gipsy for a maximum of 12 pax with on-deck sleeping facilities from 345 USD/pax.
