Flights take off

In July, Cathay Pacific Airways added a second daily flight to its Ho Chi Minh City and Hong Kong route.

Vietnam Airlines began flying to and from Ho Chi Minh City and Nagoya three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The airline has welcomed a Boeing 777 to its fleet; the aircraft will be used for the new direct flight to Frankfurt. By 2006, Vietnam Airline hopes to begin flying three directly weekly flights between Hanoi and Busan, pending approval from the Republic of Korea.

Officials from Vietnam and Thailand met to discuss the possibility of commencing a flight that would connect Ho Chi Minh City and Bangkok with the Cam Ranh Airport in central Vietnam. The airport currently only serves domestic flights and officials are hopeful that an international link will boost tourist numbers in the region.

EXO Picks: The Temple Club, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

On the first floor of a renovated guesthouse on Ton That Thiep Street, the owners of Temple Design created the Temple Club, a restaurant and bar that has become a regular meeting place for locals and travellers who ‘have in common a taste for well-being’. The restaurant, from the Chinese script adorning the walls to the leather sofas, is a balanced blend of European and Asian design and furniture.

The Temple Club consists of a bar, a restaurant, both indoors and on the verandah, and the Club lounge. It is open from lunchtime, throughout the afternoon, and in the evenings for happy hours and dinner. Afternoon tea, Sunday brunch, and private functions are also favourites of patrons.
