Chedi Chiang Mai

Chedi Chiang Mai opened in July with 86 guest rooms and suites that feature private balconies, satellite television, mini-bars and Internet service. Facilities include bars and restaurants, banquet and conference rooms, a library and a business centre.

Crowne Plaza Karon Beach Phuket

On 31st July, Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts opened the Crowne Plaza Karon Beach Phuket. It features 164 private villas, all equipped with sundecks, outdoor rainforest showers or sunken plunge pools. There are also 168 sea view guest rooms and suites. Facilities include a club for kids and teens, dining venues, an outdoor swimming pool, and the Tea Tree Spa.

The Manatee Resort & Spa is scheduled to open on the island of Koh Mook in mid-2006 with 68 guest rooms, including pool villas and 2-bedroom villas, and a restaurant, spa, bar and swimming pool.

Novotel will take over management of the Panwa Beach Resort, which was rebranded the Novotel Beach Resort Panwa Phuket in late September. It features 73 newly renovated guest rooms, a lobby, and restaurants and bars. A 10 million USD expansion will add 145 guest rooms, a spa and other facilities by late 2006.

The Paradise Koh Yao Boutique Beach Resort & Spa on Koh Yao Noi offers 70 guest rooms, including pool villas and superior and deluxe studios. All of the rooms come equipped with air conditioning, open-air bathrooms and private living areas.

In early 2006, Bangkok will see the opening of the 15-storey Park Plaza Sukhumvit Hotel Bangkok, an 89-room boutique hotel that will feature a printer, scanner, fax machine and Internet access in each room. Situated on Asoke Ratchadaphisek Road, the hotel features standard, deluxe and executive deluxe guest rooms, a state-of-the-art gymnasium, a swimming pool on the roof and an executive lounge.

Phuket Pavilions

The Phuket Pavilions features 21 one-bedroom pool pavilions and nine three-bedroom pool villas that come with spacious living rooms, reflecting pools, sundecks, a dining area, master bedroom, kitchen, oversized Terrazzo bath, private infinity-edge swimming pool and outdoor shower. The three-bedroom villas have extra kitchens and two guest bedrooms. Facilities include spa treatments, in-villa dining and the Sunset Bar.
Pimalai Resort & Spa

At the end of the year, the 5-star Pimalai Resort & Spa on Koh Lanta Yai in Krabi, which currently offers 79 guest rooms, suites and villas, will soft open an additional 39 one- and two-bedroom pool villas and a hillside swimming pool at its property. Each of the new villas will house a private swimming pool, kitchen and outdoor spa pavilion.

Expect the Sofitel Phi Phi Villa and Spa to open for guests by November with 147 deluxe villas with private balconies and 280-degree views of Krabi and the Andaman Sea. The resort will also house two swimming pools, indoor recreation, business facilities, a fitness centre, tennis court, day care centre and medical clinic, and water sports.
