Mandalay City

The Mandalay City Hotel in Mandalay has just opened on 26th Street, between 82nd and 83rd Street, in the Chanayetharzan Township. It offers 50 superior and 14 deluxe guest rooms with en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning, satellite television, a mini-bar, hot and cold water, and tea and coffee facilities. Facilities include a restaurant, a business centre, a souvenir shop, an airport shuttle, a doctor on-call, Internet service and bike rental service.

The Popa Mountain Resort’s Saddle Club now offers horse riding facilities, enabling guests to further enjoy their stay in Popa. Horses may be leased at six US dollars per person per hour.

The Serenity Inle Hotel has just opened with 22 superior bungalows and 10 standard guest rooms in a bamboo garden. Bungalows come equipped with satellite television, mini-bars, telephones, hot and cold water, bathtubs, safety boxes, and coffee and tea facilities. The Serenity Hotel in Bagan will be opening in the near future.

 

Naga New Year Festival 2005

New currency notes issued

In October, the Central Bank of Myanmar issued new 1,000 kyat and 200 kyat Myanmar currency notes. The old currency notes are still available and can be used in conjunction with the new bills, which are smaller than the old currency.
