Bangkok Airlines has also
announced that it is planning to create a new domestic airline in Myanmar,
to be called Air Bagan. If all goes well, the airline can begin
offering services as soon as October, in time for the coming high season,
to cities in Myanmar as well as to nearby major destinations.

Air Myanmar
will be the name of a new airline that will be
introduced to Myanmar at the end of this year, courtesy of the Myanmar
Ministry of Transport and Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific Airways.The airline will be
Myanmar’s second international airline after Myanmar Airways
International. Initial services include a flight between Yangon and Sydney
with a stopover in Singapore and a four-leg route that visits Bangkok,
Shanghai, Seoul and Fukuoka, with two Airbus aircraft.
SriLanka
Airlines
has joined forces with Thai Airways International and Myanmar Airways
International to begin offering flight services to and from Sri Lanka and
Myanmar through Bangkok.
Daily
non-stop flight services between Yangon and Bangkok are now available from
Bangkok Airways.
PB Air and Thai
Airways International are code-sharing twice weekly direct flights
between Bagan and Bangkok on Wednesdays and Saturdays. This route will be
in effect until March 2005.
By the end of this year, Thai AirAsia will have
commenced flights between Yangon and Bangkok.

After 1st
June, there were no Immigration and Customs check counters for domestic
flights to Yangon Airport. All
passengers can smoothly proceed to the departure lounge without any
waiting. For the time being, there will still be immigration and customs
checkpoints in other cities but this is likely to be changed in the near
future.
The modified
winter flight schedule for Yangon Airways has been announced.
