Hotels additions

At the end of this year, 392 5-star quality guest rooms will open for guests on the eighth to twenty-first floors of the An Dong Plaza in Ho Chi Minh City. The plaza will also house commercial shops, restaurants and a garden on the top floor.

The Bodhi Tree Resort & Spa in Ha Tay Province will open for guests early next year at a cost of two million USD.

The Cong Doan Bai Chay Tourist Hotel No. 2 and its 108 rooms will be available for guests at the end of this year.

The Dai Lai Vietnam Company has been given permission to begin building its Dai Lai Golf Course & Villa Complex in Vinh Phuc Province at the end of the year. When it is finished in two years, the complex will have a 36-hole golf course and guest rooms for visitors.

The 110 million USD Garden City Complex project in Ho Chi Minh City’s Nha Be District will house a golf course, a hotel with a restaurant, a movie theatre, apartment buildings and sports facilities.

The 3-star Glory Hotel in Hoi An opened this year with 65 deluxe and superior guestrooms and suites (with private balconies). Facilities include a swimming pool, spa, gym and meeting rooms.

The Hai Hau Hotel in Quy Nhon will be completed by the end of next year and will feature 4-star quality guest rooms on 11 floors at a cost of 33 million USD.

The 4-star Halong Dream Hotel will open along Halong Road and will feature 184 guest rooms.

At the end of the year, the Peace Tour travel company will begin construction in Ho Chi Minh City on two complexes comprised of a 3-star hotel with 250 rooms, apartment houses and shopping mall at a cost of 16 million USD. The two facilities will be named Hoa Binh Plaza and Peace Plaza.

Hoi An Pacific Hotel

81 deluxe and superior guest rooms and suites are now available at the Hoi An Pacific Hotel. The hotel features a gymnasium, swimming pool with bar, beauty salon, the Nam An International Restaurant and sky bar on the roof, and deluxe or superior 4-star standard rooms with satellite television and modern amenities.

The Lac Viet Joint-Stock Company will open its Imperial Complex in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province next year at a cost of 14.6 million USD. The complex will feature a 5-star hotel, two cinemas, retail shops, restaurants, residential apartments and a large conference hall.

A joint venture between Lang Son Tourism, Import and Export Company and Taiwanese businessmen has been given approval from the government to build a 38 million USD tourism complex in Lang Son Province. The complex, which will be finished in four years, will house a 5-star hotel and an 18-hole golf course.

80 percent of the 395-room Lien Resort in Hanoi was completed at a cost of 30 million USD before construction was stopped in 1998. An additional 15 million USD will be spent finishing the project, which should be ready by next year.

Life Resort Hoi An Riverpark

The 4-star, 2.3 hectare Life Resort Hoi An Riverpark is now open and offers 94 rooms with views of the Thu Bon River.

Construction has begun on the Majestic Riverview Hotel on Tran Phu Street in Danang, which will cost investors an estimated 27.5 million USD.

The Huong Giang Tourist Company and Japan-based Toa System Project are planning to spend between two and three million USD building the three-hectare My An Resort in Thua Thien-Hue Province. The resort’s spa utilises mineral water from the hot springs that will, according to the Hue University of Medicine, cure ailments.

The Hue Tourist Services Joint-Stock Company spent 7.9 million USD building the 31-hectare Ngu Binh Mount Tourist Complex in Hue’s Thuy An Village. Completed in June for the Festival Hue 2004, the project houses entertainment facilities, a hotel, water park, restaurants, souvenir shops, flower and bonsai gardens, and cultural villages.

Accor and Quinmex are investing in a 4-star hotel in Halong Bay, to be named the Novotel Ha Long Bay. When it is completed in 2006, the hotel will have 198 guest rooms with modern amenities, a spa and fitness centre, a swimming pool, restaurants and bars, meeting and incentive facilities, and views of the bay.

In mid-2005, Nha Trang will see the opening of the 4-star Oriental Nha Trang Resort Hotel, the tallest in the city. It will have 198 guest rooms at a cost of 13 million USD.

This summer, the Pandanus Beach Resort will open its 135 rooms for guests in Mui Ne in Binh Thuan Province. The ten-hectare resort also features beachfront swimming pools, tennis courts and lush gardens.

Danang will see yet another new resort with the opening of the 19 million USD Phuoc Hop Tourism Resort. When the first stage is completed next year, it will feature a 4-star hotel and an amusement park. The second stage, to be finished in 2007, will house a 5-star hotel and villas.

Nha Trang's 5-star Rusalka Golf Resort and Ocean Spa is currently under construction and will be completed at the end of the year. When finished, the 13 hectare resort will have 80 executive deluxe rooms, 46 suites and 5 Ba Na royal suites in 46 villas. Every room is designed to reflect Champa culture and offers private verandahs with sea views. The resort will also house a nine-hole golf course, three restaurants that serve Vietnamese, Japanese and European cuisines, a spa and fitness centre, and conference facilities.

The newly opened Seahorse Resort in Phan Thiet features 40 villas equipped with private terraces and views of the ocean or gardens, international cuisine at the Hippocampe Restaurant, coffee and ice cream from the Non La Poolside Bar and Lounge, a spa, indoor and outdoor conference facilities, and outdoor activities at the tennis court, volleyball court and swimming pool.

Sunrise Beach Resort

The 121-room Sunrise Beach Resort in Nha Trang has rescheduled its opening due to delays in construction. When it is completed at the end of this year, the 5-star resort will house restaurants and bars, spa and health centres, a swimming pool, tennis courts, and meeting facilities.

When the Tuan Chau International Tourism and Recreation Complex on Tuan Chau Island in Halong Bay is completed in three years, it will have 1,000 guest rooms in a number of hotels, a conference hall that will seat 2,500 guests, a 36-hole golf course, a casino, and an entertainment centre that features circus, music and animal performances. 400 of the rooms were opened for guests in June and the rest will be opened next year.

If U.S.-based Global C&D Inc. and Lehman Brothers Inc. are given approval from the Ministry of Planning and Investment in Vietnam, they can begin planning for the proposed one billion USD 5-star Vina Las Vegas Resort in Quang Nam Province. Covering 540 hectares, the complex may house 8,000 to 10,000 deluxe guest rooms, four casinos, a golf course, villas and a convention centre.

An American investor, Winvest, has submitted a proposal for a 90 million USD resort in Vung Tau that will house a 5-star hotel, a casino with slot machines, and entertainment and sports facilities on 400 hectares of land.
