Hotel update

The town of Phya Thone Su, located in Myawaddy on the Myanmar and Thailand border, will soon have a new luxury hotel. The new hotel, which will have 200 deluxe rooms, will be built during the open season and completed by 2004.

Inle Princess Resort in Inle Lake has just completed and opened its 14 new suite bungalows, 10 of which face the lake.

Sandoway Resort in Ngapali Beach

In December, 10 new beach front villas were opened at the Sandoway Resort in Ngapali Beach. Each beach front villa is 110 squared metres and comes with a CD player, marble bath room, mini-bar, in-house garden and luxurious furniture. Another 10 sea view villas are still under construction and should be available soon.

 

Win Unity Hotel

 

The Win Unity Hotel in Moniwa has finished construction of its first 16 deluxe bungalows, which are now ready to receive guests. The rooms are equipped with air conditioning, bath tubs, hot and cold water, satellite televisions and 24-hour room service and electricity. Another 16 rooms will be built in the second phase and completed in February 2004.

The RV Pandaw, a river cruising boutique hotel, is available for short and long term trips on the Ayeyarwady River, from Mandalay to Yangon, Bagan and Bhamo. The Bagan Hotel

The Bagan Hotel has finished construction of its first two suites and will have completed seven more suites by 15th January. The hotel already has over 100 rooms and suites and offers a café, gardens, a swimming pool, modern amenities and butler services for those who stay in suites.

 

 

The road to Sittwe

A 60-kilometre road that links Sittwe in Myanmar with Chittagong Province in Bangladesh is being paved and is expected to be completed in 2004. Both countries are working together to finance the project, which started in November. The road, the first to link Myanmar and Bangladesh, will help to improve trade between the two countries. The two countries are also working together to build a 100-metre bridge near the Bangladesh border.

 

New restaurant in Mandalay

The Ayeyarwady Scene Restaurant has just opened its doors in Mandalay. Situated by the banks of the Ayeyarwady River, the new riverside restaurant offers Myanmar and Thai food and features a hall and two air-conditioned rooms that seat a maximum of 120 guests. An outdoor sandbank terrace is also available for open-air dining.
