New hotels for Pattaya and Bangkok

Construction on a 16 million USD, 3 to 4-star hotel in Pattaya is expected to begin next year. When completed in 2006, the Central Hotels and Resorts project will offer a hotel and a shopping centre.

At the end of 2006, Kempinski Hotels and Resorts will open its 5-star Siam Kempinski Hotel in Bangkok. When finished, the hotel will have 300 rooms, restaurants and bars, massage rooms and conference facilities.

The 5-star Metropolitan Bangkok Hotel opened its doors on 1st November. The hotel offers connoisseurs of design and modern living 174 deluxe rooms that feature yoga mats, high-speed Internet access, flatscreen televisions, and DVD and CD players. Guest facilities include a gym, steam rooms, a hydro pool, a yoga studio, a bar and restaurant.

 

Exotissimo 4X4 rally in Kanchanaburi

Exotissimo Thailand has developed a one-day 4X4 rally in Kanchanburi Province. Ideal for incentive tours or adventurous groups, the route follows dirt tracks deep into the jungle where a remote riverside camp is set up with additional activities such as bamboo rafting. New resorts in Koh Samui

The Buriraya Resort and Spa, a 10 million USD venture, opened in Koh Samui in October. The resort features 42 deluxe rooms and 31 villas.

In October 2004, Koh Samui will present guests with its new luxury resort, SALA Samui, located on Choeng Mon Beach. The resort features 69 Thai-style villas, most of which will have their own private swimming pools, a bar and restaurant, an Internet café, a library loft, and personalised service.

Amari will be opening its Palm Reef Resort in December. The new resort will feature 84 rooms and deluxe accommodations. Amari recently held a soft opening for its Amari Trang Resort in Trang in October.

 

Sanctuary Resorts opens two more

Sanctuary Resorts will be managing the new luxury boutique resort in Koh Lak called La Flora, which features pristine beaches, 69 villas, a Sanctuary spa where guests can achieve balance in mind, body and spirit, and a plethora of leisure activities. Sanctuary Resorts is also planning to open The Racha Resort in Koh Racha, an island located south of Phuket. Expected to open in February 2004, the deluxe resort offers guests 75 villas with their own terraces and open bathrooms, outdoor rainforest showers and the latest modern conveniences.

 

Elephant Hills in Thailand

A luxury jungle camp, Elephant Hills, has been launched in Southern Thailand, in Khao Sok National Park. The camp offers guests a variety of adventure activities, such as canoe trips down Sok River, treks to mountain caves and a ride on longtail boat. Guests stay in deluxe tents that come with beds, a shower facility and a toilet.

 

Travel the Orient-Express

The Orient-Express train service will be adding a new itinerary to its 2004 programme: a three day, two night journey from Bangkok to Ayutthaya, Chiang Mai, Lampang and Kanchanaburi and then returning to Bangkok. The journey, which will be offered starting 9th February 2004, will allow guests to explore Thailand on and off the train.
