LIFE APPEARS IN QUY NHON

CAT BA TO BE AWARDED UNESCO STATUS

Haiphong authorities are fine-tuning a proposal that would see Cat Ba Island’s national park become an internationally protected reserve under the watch of UNESCO. The proposal will be submitted to UNESCO by the end of 2003. The Haiphong Administration of Tourism hopes that the suggested UNESCO status will attract both tourists and scientists to the island and help reduce pollution and alleviate the negative impacts of tourism. Cat Ba Island is 30km off the coast of Haiphong and is home to many endangered species of flora and fauna including an endemic species of primate.

 

DIEN BIEN PHU IN INTERNATIONAL SPOTLIGHT

Tourism officials have announced an elaborate campaign to promote Dien Bien Phu during next year’s 50th anniversary of the decisive victory over the French. The campaign will not only promote Dien Bien Phu but the whole north-west of Vietnam. This campaign is part of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism‘s plan to highlight a new image of Vietnam to the world every year. Last year’s focus was cultural and festival tourism and this year is Halong Bay Tourism Year. Halong Tourism Year has showcased a series of sports, tourist and cultural events in order to promote this World Heritage site. NEW GLASS BOTTOMED BOAT IN NHA TRANG

Sea Life Tour’s glass bottomed boat is a new addition to the many oceanic viewing activities available in Nha Trang. A tour on the boat offers the chance to view close up the tropical oceanographic life including coral and tropical marine animals.
