BUILDING OF HEALTH RESORT IN LANGBIAN MOUNTAINS BEGINS The project to build a health resort in the Langbian Mountains is now under way, said Mr. Vo Linh, director of Dalat Tourist. The resort, according to Mr Linh, is to be located about 12 Kilometers from the center of Dalat in an area of rolling hills among pine trees and occupies hundreds of hectares, 30 of which is for basic construction, and with an investment of over VND30 billion, the resort is to be built and put into use at the same time and to be completed by the end of 2002. The resort, also according to Mr. Vo Linh, is projected to offer unique products no other tourist spot in Dalat can as yet offer like the Hundred Years Valley, the Mimosa Forests, the Camping Site, the Hiking Area, the Fairies Stream, the Langbian Summit Conquest Area, the Windmills (to be built 2,169 meters above sea level for gliding performances and training). The Mountain Climbing Area, the Inns Chain (to be built on hill sides to provide tourists with stopping places), and the Memorial Area – with a monument to the explorer, scientist and doctor Yersin, who discovered the Langbian Highlands and laid the foundation of the City of Dalat today.
VICTORIA ANGKOR FOR 2002 Victoria Hotels and Resorts, the successful Vietnamese hotel chain, is expanding to Siem Reap. The construction of the hotel has already started. Its style and image will fill a niche between the 3 & 5-star properties currently available in Siem Reap. The Victoria Angkor will be located on the western side of the park in front of Grand Hotel d’Angkor. The opening is scheduled for mid-2002.
BANGKOK - MANDALAY FLIGHTS COMING SOON With the new Singaporean involvement in Myanmar Airways International, the airline has implemented several new improvements. Services, both on board and on the ground have been improved and plans are underway for a new route between Bangkok and Mandalay via Yangon. As a pioneer in tourism to Myanmar, Exotissimo are well prepared and will be handling the first ever charter flight to land at Mandalay in June 2001. Other international airlines are also studying the possibilities to start soon operations to Mandalay. E xotravel in Paris are a sales agent for Myanmar Airways International and can give up to date information on schedules. The Exotissimo office in Yangon will also be glad to help with information.

Bach Ma National Park offers cool comfort Travellers in the centre of Vietnam needing to escape to cooler climes will be happy to learn that facilities at Bach Ma National Park, Vietnam’s third hill station, have recently undergone a complete renovation. The roads, power and water systems have recently been repaired and upgraded and seven of the remaining 139 French villas have been restored. Tour Can Gio mangrove swamp from on high HCM City-based Saigontourist plan to offer airship tours of mangrove swamps in the city’s coastal district of Can Gio. The company has submitted a plan to buy four airships, each carrying 12 passengers and capable of flying up to 1,000m above the ground. |
