Delve into the fascinating heritage of Thailand, on this 4-day tour that goes in search of bygone Bangkok. Scratching beneath the veneer of this vast urban sprawl, explore the delights of the dazzling temples, amazing palaces and culturally vibrant markets.

 

Begin your Thailand tour with a special dinner on the ‘River of Kings’ where entertainment will be provided in the form of a cotemporary performance complemented by a 15 course meal of traditional Thai foods. Rise early and witness the early morning chants of the monks at Wat Po, home to the reclining Buddha, a at 45-metre long and 15 meters high it is quite a site. Continue you on to the exquisite Grand Palace a dazzling landmark that was built in 1782 - and for 150 years the home of the Thai King, the Royal court and the administrative seat of government.

 

Cruise the Chao Phraya and witness how old and new Bangkok are seamlessly intertwined, as centuries old temples reside on the same banks as 5-star hotels. Enjoy the breeze as you weave your way through the khlongs, observe life on the river and stop a local gallery before exploring the river communities in more depth. En-route back to Bangkok stop and visits the Temple of Dawn also known as Wat Arun. Continue on to a traditional wooden Thai Houses set amidst the leafy grounds for an authentic traditional Thai experience.

 

This Bangkok tour culminates with a visit to Jim Thompson’s factory, a beautiful mansion. Comprised of several traditional teak buildings amid a leafy compound, Thompson spent years filling it with priceless antiques before his mysterious disappearance in 1967. Visit local houses and view artisans at work for a rare yet insightful look into the Thai silk trade.

Day 1 - Arrival Bangkok (D)


Welcome to Bangkok, transfer from the airport to your hotel alongside your Exo guide. Enjoy an evening of avant garde Thai culture over dinner, river views and lounge chairs in a theatre-style setting. Feast on a 15-course meal of classic Thai treats with a contemporary twist. A unique introduction to Thai culture and certainly and evening you won't be forgetting in a hurry.

Day 2 - Bangkok (B,L)


Rise early and head out to Wat Po in time to for the monks early morning chanting ritual. After this uplifting and often private experience visit the famous 45-metre reclining Buddha. Continue to The Grand Palace, Thailand's most important landmark, where you will be awed by the grandeur and majesty of this extravagant structure. Continue to "Chakrabongse Villa" - the former home of Prince Chula Chakrabongse. Enjoy lunch amid lush tropical surroundings and wonderful river views. 

Afternoon is free time to explore Bangkok at your leisure.

Overnight in Bangkok 


Day 3 - Bangkok (B,L,D)


Board a private long tail boat on the Chao Phraya and begin your adventure in to 'bygone Bangkok'. Pass by shop houses, local temples and vendors on this waterway which was once a major trading route and lined with impressive homes of one time aristocrats.  After observing this lively area the boat stops at Baan Silapin, a 100 year old renovated house now home to an art gallery. Enjoy the gallery, take part in an art workshop or explore the local community, before experiencing a unique puppet show performance. En-route back to the city stop and visit the Temple of Dawn also known as Wat Arun. Continue on to a traditional wooden Thai Houses set amidst the leafy grounds for an authentic traditional Thai experience. Depart in the evening to "Nahm Bangkok", a Michelin-starred chef creates authentic Thai cuisine restaurant at The Metropolitan Hotel.

Day 4 - Bangkok - Departure (B)


Visit Jim Thompson House, a beautiful mansion. Comprised of several traditional teak buildings amid a leafy compound, Thompson spent years filling it with priceless antiques before his mysterious disappearance in 1967. You will take a tour through the house and learn more about himself and his involvement in the silk trade as well as about Thai culture and tradition. Cross the canal to Baan Krua, a Cham Muslim village whose artisans used to weave for Jim Thompson. Today, some of the original weaving families still remain and warmly welcome visitors. Visit local houses and view artisans at work.

Return to the hotel for check-out, and then transfer to Bangkok International Airport for your flight.
