When to go?
From November to February the weather is cool and dry while March to June sees temperatures soaring in to the high 30s (Celcius). July to October tend to be very rainy, washing out some roads thus making rural areas inaccessible. The Lao are very sociable and if you happen to be in the country during one of their festivals, you are sure to get caught up in the lively atmosphere!  Pii Mai, Lao New Year, is in April and the celebrations include parades and water fights. The magnificent That Luang Festival falls in November and thousands of people and monks travel from remote villages to participate in the religious celebration. Several times a year Vientiane has boat racing competitions, where long wooden boats are raced up and down the Mekong River.

Where is it?
Settha Palace is located in the center of Vientiane near the Nam Phu fountain, a few minutes walk from the town's main shopping and dining area. The Wattai International Airport is a ten minute drive from the hotel and the land border with Thailand is just a half hour drive.

What's not to be missed?
Visit the ancient temples of Wat Si Saket and Wat Phra Keow. Climb to the top of Patuxai, Laos' version of the Arc de Triomphe. Learn about Lao textiles at Carol Cassidy silk shop. Wander along the Mekong River. Swim in the beautiful hotel pool.

What's cooking?
In keeping the hotel's understated elegance, the Settha Palace's restaurants offer delicious menus in a refined setting.  La Belle Epoque Bar and Restaurant is the main dining venue. The bar is open all day, serving wine, beer, and cocktails as well as coffees and other non-alcoholic beverages. The Restaurant showcases classical French cuisine and offers a seasonally-inspired Lao menu, a fantastic opportunity to sample the delicious flavors of the local cuisine. For casual dining, Settha Palace has two options: The Sidewalk Café and Poolside bar which serve light snacks and drinks throughout the day.
