When to go?
The Cambodian winter (October to February) is the best time to travel to Siem Reap as the air is cool and the skies are clear. However, the dust at this time of year can be irritating and the crowds at the temples are at their highest numbers. March to May sees hotter temperatures and dry skies, and the heat continues in to June through August when the monsoon season starts. The rains, however, do not usually cause a major problem for travelers as they tend to be short- but hard- afternoon showers. The Cambodian water festival in October is a lively affair with 3 days of dragon boat racing taking place in Siem Reap and Phnom Penh and Buddhist New Year in April sees families gathering at temples to celebrate. Although both are spectacular events, several restaurants and shops are closed meaning slight disruptions may occur in your travel plans.
Where is it?
The Victoria is located alongside the Royal gardens in the heart of Siem Reap and just 15 km from the international airport. The main entrance to the temples of Angkor is just 6 km away, whilst the Old Town is a twenty minute walk.
What's not to be missed?
Temple touring by Citroen classic car. Elephant ride amongst the ruins. Helicopter flight over Angkor. Traditional Apsara dance performance. Soothe soar muscles at the Victoria Spa.
What's cooking?
The Victoria offers a variety of dining options from fine French gastronomy to casual light snacks. The main restaurant features an eclectic menu of traditional Khmer and innovative French dishes served in an elegant dining room. Traditional Apsara dance performances enhance the dining atmosphere. The Victoria also has outdoor dining for romantic, starlight dinners. More casual snacks and light bites are served throughout the day, with many guests choosing to dine by the hotel's marvelous pool. A favourite place to unwind in the evening, the Explorateur bar features not only an extensive selection of wine and alcohol, but also cigars from around the world.
