Raffles Grand Hotel D'Angkor - Siem Reap - Overview
Built in 1932, Raffles Grand Hotel d'Angkor has been restored with renewed elegance and modern facilities, complimenting the mystery and grandeur of Angkor as never before.

The Raffles Grand Hotel d'Angkor is located on the edge of the town of Siem Reap, just eight kilometres from the world-renowned Angkor temple site. Dating from 1932, it was reopened in 1997, after a careful restoration programme by Raffles International.

The hotel offers 119 guest rooms including suites and luxurious villas. The rooms are furnished in Art Deco style and decorated with historic memorabilia and architectural details inspired by the nearby Angkor temples.

Guests have an array of distinctive restaurants and bars to choose from ranging from the formal Restaurant Le Grand, to the casual Cafe d'Angkor and the famous Elephant Bar, the culinary delights are as varied and exotic as the temples themselves.

The Raffles Amrita Spa offers traditional techniques and spa therapies including bodyscrubs, aquatherapy, hydrotherapy, aromatherapy, thalassotherapy, as well as facials, slimming and toning treatments.

Facilities:

  • Raffles Amrita Spa
  • Beauty salon
  • Fitness centre, sauna, swimming pool and tennis courts
  • Baby- sitting service
  • Shopping arcade

Dining:
There's no lack of dining choice here, with an astounding eight different restaurants including Restaurant Le Grand, Cafe d'Angkor and the Elephant Bar. The Cafe Monivong is good for breakfast and serve a very fine lunch buffet. And the Conservatory lobby-bar is a nice place to meet people for a quick drink before moving on for dinner.

Room Type:
There are 119 rooms and suites and they've been divided into 6 room types. Certainly, if you've got the money you can stay at the two-bedroom Villa Suites, where Bill Clinton and the Sultan of Brunei have stayed.

For those of us with more "reasonable" means, the personality suites are your best bet. Named after Henri Mouhot, John Thomson, Louis Delaporte and Henri Marchal, the four suites are located in the main building and look out onto the pool. They are decorated in grand colonial style, with claw-footed bathtubs, private balconies and of course, king-size beds.

The State rooms are a little on the cozy side. The Cabana rooms are like the State rooms, but are on the terrace and have direct access to the pool. The Landmark rooms are nice though, and (for better or worse) right by the stairs.

Raffles Grand Hotel D'Angkor is located in the heart of Siem Reap, 15 minutes from Siem Reap International Airport, 10 minutes away from Angkor Wat, and few minutes drive to major attractions in town.

Who should go?
The Raffles designers certainly had colonial fans in mind. A stay here will transport you back in time to when Cambodia was part of greater Indochina. If you enjoy luxury (and who doesn't) you will certainly enjoy staying here.

When to go?
Siem Reap can be very hot in April, and should best be avoided. From July to mid-September, you should bring your umbrella, because the rainy season will be in effect.

Where is it?
The Raffles is located in a quiet are of Siem Reap, close to the town center and right next to a park. Great for those of you who start the day with a quick jog or walk.

What's not to be missed?
No luxury vacation is complete without a visit to the spa, and you won't be disappointed by a visit to the Amrita Spa. With treatments designed specially for both men and women, there is really no excuse to not indulge yourself with an afternoon of relaxation.

What's cooking?

You can't go wrong with a cocktail in the Elephant Bar. The Femme Fatale was named after Jacqueline Kennedy Smith.
