TRIP PROFILE

The Mekong Delta or the “Nine Dragon river delta” is the vast region in Southeast Vietnam. This is where the Mighty Mekong River approaches and empires into the sea through its tributaries network. Encompassing a large portion of Southeastern Vietnam of 39,000 km2, the Mekong Delta region is richly abundant with waters (depending on the season), plenty of foods, covered with rice fields. It produces about half of the total of Vietnam’s agricultural output and is the place where you can experience the timeless sceneries of farmers planting or harvesting rice.

Inhabited largely by ethnic groups, the Mekong Delta has a rich diversity of traditional cultures and livings of Viet and Khmer ethnic people, with a sizeable group of Chinese populations. Most of these ethics people primarily live in Tra Vinh, Soc Trang, and An Giang provinces.

Life along the Mekong Delta is so much with the river, so you can notice that all villages are often accessible by river rather than by road.

Most renowned places in the Mekong Delta and you should not miss include My Tho and Cai Be near Ho Chi Minh City. Close to the heart of the delta is Vinh Long and Can Tho, from where it s possible to reach the remotest area of the delta. At the south of the Mekong Delta is the mangrove and South China Sea, while at the north goes to Chau Doc and Cambodia. Western Mekong Delta is the islands of Phu Quoc.

Let’s explore the Mekong Delta for its natural bounty through this cycling trip. Hit your feet on a bike and pedal to discover Viet and Khmer ethnic living along the vast Mekong Delta. The trip will gives you a myriad of orchards, paddy rice fields, tiny villages, wooden bridges, canals, flowers and local temples.
