For me, the ultimate Thai experience is the Mahout training program at the Anantara Golden Triangle.
You spend a full day with the incredible elephants and their handlers- feeding, bathing and then riding on the back of one of these enormous animals. On top of that, the scenery is breathtaking with jungles and rivers filling the landscape.
It adds a touch of adventure to any north Thailand program and is an absolute must for anyone who loves elephants. I have not stopped raving about this experience and can't wait to try it again and bring my kids along.
