<img src='http://www.exotissimo.com/eblog/wp-content/uploads/2008/05/yangon_river_view-left.thumbnail.jpg' alt='yangon_river_view-left.jpg' class='alignright'Exotissimo Travel would like to say “Thank you very much” on the behalf of the poor victims in Myanmar for all the kind support and every dollar donated to help them through this difficult time.

Most parts of Yangon are now getting back to normal with electricity becoming available. Gradually, many shops and restaurants are opening. The transport is back since all roads are open. Important attractions are also back to normal such as Bogyoke Market (Scotts Market), Shwedagon and Sule Pagoda. National Museum and Kaba Aye Pagoda are still closed but will open soon.

Yangon is safe now and we would like to take this chance to report on hotel situation there. Even though most of places affected by the cyclone are busy with cleaning up fallen trees, branches, leaves and other wind-blown debris, there also are hotels undamaged, with services readily available.

Park Royal: The hotel was not damaged and it is fully operational with electricity, telephone and Internet all working as normal.

Summit Parkview: The hotel was not damaged and electricity, telephone and Internet are all working as normal.

Traders Hotel: The hotel was not damaged and it is fully operational with electricity, telephone and Internet all working as normal.

Strand Hotel: The hotel was not damaged and it is fully operational with electricity, telephone and Internet all working as normal.

Sedona Hotel Yangon: The hotel was not damaged and electricity, telephone and Internet are all working as normal.

Inya Lake Hotel: The hotel was not damaged and electricity, telephone and Internet are all working.

Chatrium (previously Nikko) Hotel: The hotel’s main building and garden were not damaged. Electricity, telephone and Internet are all working as normal.

And below are those hotel slightly affected by the cyclone. Some are back to normal operation with limitations while some are sill closed due to both the cyclone and low season.

Governor’s Residence: The hotel property itself sustained some damage, while there are a few guests during this time due to the low season. The hotel is unlikely to resume operations for at least 2 months. All guests and staff are safe.

For another property, the Road to Mandalay, it is still closed due to the low season. The ship now is in Yangon and was badly damaged.

Kandawgyi Palace Hotel: The hotel faced no major damage and therefore guests can stay there without being disturbed. Some windows and roofs are broken, yet these need only minor repair work. Electricity, telephone and Internet are all working as normal.

Savoy Hotel: The hotel has been operated with generator with limited hours, and therefore the phone lines are not working properly at the moment. The hotel has been trying to get power as soon as possible. Internet connection is also not working.

Thamada Hotel: The hotel faced only minor damage. Elevators are not working at the moment but electricity and telephone are working.

The ambiance is impeccable and very much in keeping with the Hotel de la Paix. This chic new restaurant will serve Khmer food in tapas-style, accompanied by a wide variety of wine. We are sure that hipsters from all around the world will go home raving about the AHA.

Of course, some find the Novotel a little “too nice” for an evening’s rest before an early morning flight home, and for that, we would like to introduce the Miracle Hometel. Just open, the hotel is just a 10 minute drive from the airport and offers the full-range of facilities, like swimming pool, fitness, etc. as well as shuttle bus transfers between the hotel and the airport so you will not need to book a separate car and guide for your clients. But above all, they offer a quiet place to rest in comfort before your clients board their flights onward.

And we are happy to announce that we have found a new favorite in Phnom Penh. The Quay Hotel opened up earlier this year and has established itself as THE oasis for sleek modern living in Phnom Penh. Sleek lines and silhouettes characterize the furniture, rooms and hotel itself.

This 16-room hideaway was designed with the environment in mind, and offsets its carbon footprint in partnership with local NGOs. Located along the river, the Quay is a short stroll from the National Museum, the Royal Palace, the Silver Pagoda and the charming cafes, shops and galleries that dot Phnom Penh. The 3-star Quay is perfect for small groups and FITs looking for a stylish, modern place to rest their heads after exploring the nooks and crannies of Phnom Penh.

Walking by this trendy boutique, your first impression is that you are walking by a hip furniture or interior decorating store. Within a five minute walk to the Nana BTS, the chic interior design of the 72 rooms and suites is perfect for those who would enjoy the nightlife at the famous Bed Supperclub. There is no pool here though, and instead aims directly for the technology crowd. Plasma televisions and DVD players abound in every room, with Wifi spread throughout the hotel for good measure. For those who think the Dream Hotel (just up the soi) is a little small, S15 with its larger rooms is a great alternative.

This gorgeous property had its soft-opening in mid-December, and we believe it is a good alternative for when hotels in downtown Hanoi are full. Set entirely over the waters of Hanoi’s Westlake, the Intercontinental is a worthy entrant to the 5-Star hotel scene.

Now until 30th April

Deluxe Room = USD 242 / Single Supplement = USD 198
Deluxe Westlake View = USD 308 / Single Supplement = USD 264

From 1st May to 30th June

Deluxe Room = USD 198 / Single Supplement = USD 154
Deluxe Westlake View = USD 264 / Single Supplement = USD 220
