Update on Yangon Airways

We have just been informed that from 3rd December 2010, Yangon Airways has had all of its scheduled services temporarily suspended, the suspension being enforced by the Aircraft Operator Certificate Authority, with the suspension in place until further notice.All bookings made through Exotissimo have already been transferred to either Air Mandalay or Air Bagan, with details being communicated from our Myanmar office to our partners and directly to any clients currently travelling in Myanmar.

Phnom Penh Crush

We are very sorry to inform you that there was a tragic incident at the Water Festival in Phnom Penh yesterday when a stampede resulted in the death of 378 people. We would like to inform you that no Exotissimo clients or staff were involved or harmed and all clients in Phnom Penh have been contacted and are safe and well. This was the first time such a an event has happened at this or any other festival in Cambodia and there have been no further dangerous situations.
Thursday 25th November has been declared a national day of mourning.
The festivities have now ceased and although the country is in shock, Phnom Penh is returning to normal. All of our thoughts are with the families of those that sadly lost their lives yesterday.
Exotissimo’s offices will reopen tomorrow after the public holiday, with the emergency phones being operational until then for any clients with concerns.

Laos Government Announce a Seven-Day Grand Event to Celebrate the 450th Anniversary of Vientiane

The celebration of Vientiane’s 450th anniversary as the national capital city will take place this month from the 15th to the 21st of November. It has been scheduled to coincide with the celebration of the 35th anniversary of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic. The general public will see the celebration of Vientiane 450th anniversary and the 35th anniversary of the Loa PDR from the 15th November but official ceremonies will be organized at That Luang Square & Nation Stadium on 18-21 November. A number of rituals and processions by Vientiane residents & people from provinces across the country will be on display, a trade fair and parachute performance are among the activities included in the celebration.

New Phuket Excursions

Our new selection of Phuket day-trips go in search of life beyond the powdery white sand beaches and warm waters of the Andaman. Meet a local artist and spend the day working within a number of creative mediums at her home before feasting on a home cooked meal. Get better acquainted with the many flavors of Thai cuisine on a full-day cooking course that see’s participants venture to local farms and markets before eventually preparing their own dish from the ingredients sourced during the day.
For the more adventurous traveler we have developed a number of excursions to Khao Sok National Park where walking, bird watch and canoeing can all be enjoyed. The park comprises the largest area of virgin forest in Southern Thailand and is a remnant of rainforest which is older and more diverse than the Amazon and is a definite highlight of any trip to the South of Thailand.

Qatar Airways Flies to Hanoi and Increases Flights to Ho Chi Minh City

Qatar Airways is spreading it’s wings in Vietnam by launching scheduled flights to Hanoi as well as increasing it’s frequency to Ho Chi Minh City nearly tripling the airline’s number of services in and out of the country. The Hanoi flights go via Bangkok and Doha, and the Ho Chi Minh service flies direct from Doha.
Akbar Al Baker, Chief Executive Officer, Qatar Airways said, “Qatar Airways appreciates the support provided by the Vietnamese government in allowing us to almost triple the number of flights we operate to the country. The bilateral relationship between Qatar and Vietnam has grown significantly in recent years and this route development is one of the results of this growing friendship. Vietnam has long been an attractive leisure destination and with the country’s economic strength continuing to build, we are also seeing more business travel in and out of the country.
