Bokor Hill, an Adventure Lost

veranda_hillside_bungalow_kep-right.jpgThe Cambodian Association of Travel Agents (CATA) recently announced the closure of Bokor Hill for 30 months. This is a huge loss for adventure fans in the south of Cambodia. The Exotissimo Adventure Team has thought long and hard about the problem, and has decided that Kep is the best replacement for Bokor. Kep is a small fishing town with excellent accommodation throughout. Exotissimo’s preferred accommodation, La Veranda, offers excellent views over the Gulf of Thailand surrounded by a pristine, natural environment.

Every tour previously visiting Bokor Hill has been rerouted to Kep and will visit Rabbit Island, one of the unexplored islands on the Cambodian coast of the Gulf of Thailand.

Rabbit Island is a great boat trip from Kep and offers relaxing atmosphere, a feeling of discovery and white sand beaches for you to explore. Lunch will be provided on this trip to be enjoyed under a palm tree on the boat or simply on the sandy white beaches.

Stay at the Quay

quay_hotel_phnom_penh-left.jpgThere aren’t nearly enough nice boutique hotels in Cambodia. And we are happy to announce that we have found a new favorite in Phnom Penh. The Quay Hotel opened up earlier this year and has established itself as THE oasis for sleek modern living in Phnom Penh. Sleek lines and silhouettes characterize the furniture, rooms and hotel itself.

This 16-room hideaway was designed with the environment in mind, and offsets its carbon footprint in partnership with local NGOs. Located along the river, the Quay is a short stroll from the National Museum, the Royal Palace, the Silver Pagoda and the charming cafes, shops and galleries that dot Phnom Penh. The 3-star Quay is perfect for small groups and FITs looking for a stylish, modern place to rest their heads after exploring the nooks and crannies of Phnom Penh.

Triathlon Running with Exotissimo

adventure_mountain_biking-left.jpgThe first annual Madagui Trophy took place on 15-16th March this year. Organized by Viet Adventure and Les Vergers du Mekong and sponsored by Exotissimo, the Madagui Trophy is an adventure triathlon through Vietnam’s stunning wilderness. 38 teams of 2 members apiece ran through the jungle, swam through rivers and ended the race with a mountain biking course. 35 teams managed to finish the race, with UK couple Morris winning the Extreme level, and the Australian Bush Bashers winning the Adventure level.

Exotissimo Travel will be teaming up with Viet Adventure again on 1st June to organize the Le Fruit Triathlon in Mui Ne, www.vietadventure.vn. These races alongside the Pranburi Triathlon are examples of how Exotissimo is creating new and interesting events to propel our destinations onto the world stage.
