The Angkor Century, well known for its excellent hospitality and great facilities has now once more improved their facility range with the “Century Spa”, the Angkor Century’s first Cambodian Themed Spa. The Spa pays tribute to the ancient relaxation and rejuvenation techniques which surely originated from Southeast Asia’s first great culture – the Angkor civilization.
A perfect treatment after a long day out at the temples, trip over the lake or hard labor at one of Exotissimo’s Voluntourism projects, the Century Spa will rejuvenate you and prepare you for a new day and new explorations. The Angkor Century offers currently 6 treatment rooms, outdoors in the resort’s lush tropical gardens.
Angkor Century offers exclusive for its valued in-house guests from October 2007 until March 2008 special rates for the Spa.

Ever since our first mention of Voluntourism in Cambodia in the newsletter last July, we kept receiving interesting requests for new projects. Research was conducted once more and next to Voluntourism projects, also new charity visits have been found and are awaiting the visitors to come and have a peek behind the scenes of several interesting projects. In Siem Reap we found for instance the Khmer Organization Cultural Development. A Phnom Penh run NGO with 50 orphans learning Khmer, English, dance performances and music making. This small NGO isn’t linked to any international Aid Organization and depends on visitors and their goodwill. Teaching English here for an afternoon, dancing traditional dances with the kids and cooking food with them will already make a difference! Visits like these are easily combined with a day trip around Siem Reap and impact the life of the people tremendously. Our projects help to improve people’s lives and are well organized and researched. Exotissimo wants to give everyone a fair chance and therefore we tend to look for thesmaller, but well run, organizations to which we can contribute. And in the end of the day, a broad smile as a thank you from a person whose life you just touched is worth more than a million postcards or pictures

Did you ever wonder what life in a floating house would be like? Don’t wonder any more, but experience the very different life on water! The Khmer Empire, long ago, knew that water was their source of life and based their existence on the flows of the Tonle Sap Lake. Nowadays, almost half of the Khmer people rely on Cambodia’s beating heart, the Tonle Sap. But how can we enjoy a quiet excursion and experience life on the water? Exotissimo will guide you there.Just a 30 min drive from Siem Reap lays a floating community called Kampong Phluck. Kampong Phluck is nothing like its neighbor Chhong Kneas, which is the port from and to Phnom Penh and Battambang. In addition, kampong Phluck is clean and a joyful experience. A 2 hour boat ride away lays Kampong Kliang, another large floating community. Especially in the months between August and February, a visit to these villages is a real treat.
Having lunch in a local house, peddling through the floating forest or helping local
fishermen a hand catching their dinners, it’s all possible here. With well operated boats and drivers which are run by the community itself, you are secured and safe and can enjoy an afternoon on the mighty Tonle Sap Lake and indulge in floating local life. An excursion to these floating villages can easily be combined with a visit to the Roulous group, Beng Mealea or charity organizations as well. Contact your tour operator and get more information!

Just a few minutes drive from the centre of Siem Reap and close to the beautiful Wat Polanka, The Mysteres d’Angkor Lodge is a charming Khmer-style boutique hotel set in peaceful tropical gardens. The 15 rooms in the lodge’s four-storey pavilions are authentically appointed and feature garden or pool view terraces. A host of tourist attractions including a War Museum Crocodile farm, Butterfly garden and zoo are located nearby, and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Angkor is a short drive away.
