Majestic Hotel awarded 5 stars
The legendary Majestic Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City has been awarded 5-star status by the Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism. The Majesic Hotel is the first hotel fully operated by a Vietnamese company to be awarded this status. It was built in 1925, and been witness to almost all of modern Vietnamese history. During World War II, it was used as a barracks by Japanese soldiers, and during the Vietnam War, it was frequented by many espionage agents and foreign journalists. The hotel has 175 luxuriously appointed rooms and which have been graced by famous celebrities like actress Catherine DeNeuve, chef Martin Yan, Japan’s prince Akishino and former prime minister of France, Francois Mitterand.
