Chiang Mai - Mae Sariang - Salawin River - Karen Village - Jungle Camp - Rawang Village

Originating in Chiang Mai, the first day of your Salwin River Hilltribe Trek Thailand tour takes you south through lush National Parks to the town of Mae Sariang. This small town, nestled alongside mountains and situated near the Myanmar border, is the start point for your adventure. It is also situated on the outskirts of the Salawin Wildlife Sanctuary which is filled with a wide variety of animal species and endless stretches of spectacular nature.

The next day, the adventure begins with a journey by local songthaew truck to the banks of the Salwain River. A longtail boat then weaves its way past small villages and towering cliffs, dropping you at the stop point of the trek. Make your way through the jungle to a Karen village where a homestay with a local family is sure to be a highlight of your Thailand tour.

After a restful night's sleep, the journey continues with a fabulous ride on the back of an elephant. No Thailand tour would be complete without the chance to encounter these magnificent animals and you will be treated to spectacular views as you meander through the jungle. Continuing on foot, you will pass through more villages and forests to a campsite for a night spent in bamboo huts.

Spend the final morning trekking to a Rawang village.  Situated on the banks of the Salawin River, this is the perfect location for capping off your Thailand tour with a delicious lunch.
