Putao - Mudone Village - Kaungmulone - Manhkuk Village - Nankhan Village - Manchanbaw - Naungklhine Village - Putao - Yangon

Explore the breathtaking region surrounding Putao in Northern Myanmar on this adventurous trekking tour. Begin by exploring the attractive town of Putao, visiting its busy market and admiring the colonial era architecture. Climb to the top of Fort Hertz for superb views of the surrounding mountains and forests. Crossing the mountainous terrain by jeep you head to Pataung village, stopping en-route at Hokho and Panhline villages. From Pataung we take a short trek to Mudone where we stay overnight at a homestay and enjoy a freshly prepared dinner.

Learn about local practices as you spend time with the family at the homestay. Continue your trekking tour of Northern Myanmar as you board an ox cart and trundle along to the village of Nankhan for a freshly prepared lunch. From here a boat ride along the Malikha River to Manchanbaw exposes the verdant jungle clad banks of the river and takes you to the Stone Dragon viewpoint. We also visit a local market where many nearby villagers come to sell their handmade wares.

A walk to the nearby villages of Naungkhine Lizu and Rawan on the opposite side of the River is a chance to interact and learn more about village life in the region. Here we have a farewell and delicious bonfire dinner on our last night of trekking. Early the next morning a jeep takes you back to Putao where a tasty breakfast awaits. We then head to Putao market, a hive of activity filled with flamboyant colour and a vibrant atmosphere. Spend the morning exploring the market at your leisure before transferring to the airport for a midday flight.

Day 1 - Arrive Putao - Mudone Village (L,D)

Walk through the quiet town of Putao to admire the colonial era architecture including Fort Hertz and the surrounding mountainous landscapes. In the afternoon visit Hokho and Panhline Shan villages before trekking to Mudone where you will stay for the night.

Overnight homestay, Mudone Village.

Day 2 - Mudone Village - Kaungmulone - Manhkuk Village (B,L,D)

Take a bamboo raft or canoe along the Nam Palat River. Stop at small villages along the way to meet locals and visit Kaungmulone Pagoda. Trek to Khancho village in the afternoon following a flat foot trail, stopping en-route to meet villagers from the Shan, Rawan, Kachin and Lisu tribes.

Day 3 - Manhkuk Village - Nankhan Village - Manchanbaw - Naungklhine Village (B,L,D)

Travel by ox cart and light trekking from Manhkuk village to Nankhan this morning. After lunch in Nankhan we continue by boat to Manchanbaw to visit local markets and enjoy a bonfire dinner.

Overnight homestay, Naungkhine Village

Day 4 - Naungkhine Village - Putao - Yangon (B)

Transfer to Putao for breakfast in a restaurant before heading to the market where many locals come to buy goods in their colorful attire.

Then transfer to the airport for the midday flight.
